Hello, It's my first steps in Crypto World. Great Community, read a lot of useful stuff.
I want to start investing in currencies/assets.
At this time I'm low on budget, can invest max $400-500.
So investing in top currencies is not worth I think.
Which would be better to research solid cryptocurrency that already exists or invest this money into ICO-s (I know risk are high when we are talking about ICO)?
Or wait till I raise my funds like 1k or more.
I know on this budget long-term is a little stupid, so which will be better for the short-term period.
I have researched some of the projects , that I think is worth to invest. BAT, OMG, LISK, NEO.
Any advice will be helpful. Thanks in advance

You could start of what you have considered low value coins for now then when you gained you may trade some of your earned to bitcoin because it is the most promising coins at this moment. Most of us here started at very low profile then as the time past by our level and experiences increases.
You may review complete list of coins at this site coinmarketcap.com for your reference.

$400 - $500 is good to invest on altcoin trading but if you use it for short term trading that is very risky, First because of transaction fees every trade and Second you'll just earn a small profit for every traded and you didn't if you will win or lose every short trade.
My suggestion for you go buy a good long term coins like STRATIS, WAVES, LTC, ETH, XMR and STEEM or cheap coins but good for longterm like XRP, STR, DGB, SC and BCN.
Long term is better than short term trading patience and Technical Analysis is the key to be successful in trading

My opinion you can pick Waves , Ethereum , Litecoin and some Dogecoin , these Altcoin the price growing slow but sure.

I would not pick Dogecoin the days of Dogecoin are long gone. Back in 2014/2015 it was big, but now it is going the way of the Dodo, sadly.
Dogecoin is just going up again and is good to transfer Bitcoins fast and cheap indirectly. But you are right, its to risky to invest into doge.
400$ is large enough to create a good portfolio of wellknown cryptos. I would take Bitcoin for half amount and the rest for wellknown altcoins like for example Ethereum, Dash, ZCash, Litecoin and so on and ICOs of promising projects with innovative or social projects like Solar DAO Coin or CareCoin. You can find many helpful infos about ICOs here in altcoin section.
So buy $200 BTC, $200 different altcoins. Hodl it for 2-3 month or longer, sell it when it's high and reinvest funds into new currencies ?
What you think about BAT?
Yes, I would do so. About BAT. Have not enough info to give a good advice on it.  Some say it is overvalued and others expect it to grow significantly. With such tokens I would invest a little amount just to take the chance to gain some profits meanwhile not risking to much. But follow also your own opinion.

BAT has got rejected to list in Bittrex so i think the price will fall surely so that time you can buy it, apart from this you can also check with ICN, TIME coins which are also having a good projects running and in long term they will give you very nice profit.

BAT is listed on bittrex.

BAT is cool, but it will be a while before it pays off. NEO, LISK, STRATIS, are all great, but I would say buy OMG.

I only suggest if you want to buy altcoin for investment or trading you can choose Dash and litecoin.
But you can also use your money to follow ICO to get token for a low price.
But we must be smart to choose ICO.
we can see a promising project concept, a great Team, and a good dev when campaigning.
Good luck

You should start investing as much as you can afford. You don't need to be buying 1 whole coin to start making profits. Invest on smaller fractions of coins which have good potential. Don't forget about opportunity cost. You will be missing out the potential gain if you wait to raise your funds to 1k.
Also beaware of users who will encourage you to invest on some shit coins. They are from pump/dump groups wanting to make some quick profit.
Yeah I was thinking about opportunity cost. I'm not going to invest in shit coins, research is key and I'm not lazy about it.
How can I evaluation potential? Solid project, roadmap, whitepaper, dev team, advisers?  And what do you think, which is more profitable to invest all the money into 1 project or split on different?

I would advise paying attention to NEO, it is now in a good price range. Also XEM and STRAT. But first of all, study these coins.

If you want to double your fund in the next few days, invest in those coins for 3-10 days!

1. VOX
2. RADS
3. BAY
4. AMP
5. KMD
6. PPC
7. RDD
8. DOGE
9. EMC2
10. NXT

$40/each and exit from any coin when reach 20% profit, and use fund to buy coin not pumped yet!

Note: do your research and invest at your own risk!

How do you make 2x profit in 3-10 days if you exit on all 10 coins as soon as you make 20% profit is beyond me but ok Smiley

you can do that, since you invested into 10 altcoins. And every 20% Profit you take it
and if the 10 altcoins you bought had 20 % profit so you already double your initial balance

for Doge i think the rate will be a bit hard for the price to increase

I started low budget also. Start doing some research on some of the smaller market cap coins. Find one you believe in than purchase and hold. The ways things are going You'll probably double or triple real fast and can branch out from there. Also don't disregard the top coins, they are still doubling all the time.
What you call small market cap ? under 10 mil? under 50 mil ?

I'm currently in Storj, too. Kim Dotcom is releasing a new project that will be utilizing Storj. NEO should be a good pick up right now, it's fallen down to $32 and its been pretty steady after its initial price jump.
The problem I have with this: every small project is suddenly valued at a billion dollar when it releases a token.
A starting company needs money. Maybe 100k. Maybe a million for a very big plan. Ten million can pay 100 employees for a year. One hundred million can create many products.
A startup with 2 people is not worth a billion. End of story.

Well if you dont have too much funds (less than $2k) then you wont take much profit from your trades.
But if you only trade with a pair you can easily earn 0.01 every day with a minimum pump, that is if you trade...
So if you are going to hold coins, then you can start with any amount and you will have a lot of profit in the future.
My suggestion is that if wait a little more, and hold as much as you can right now.

For low budget holding is more profitable that trading ? I was thinking opposite..

I started with $200, split between ETH and LTC. That quickly turned into $400, and so on and so forth. It hasn't been without losses, but I am happy that I started with a smaller amount. The thing about any type of investment is you never know what's going to happen next. Right now a lot of people are making a lot of money, but both ETH and BTC have crashed HARD in the past. With your $500 max I would recommend LTC for most of your investment. I'm currently in Storj, too. Kim Dotcom is releasing a new project that will be utilizing Storj. NEO should be a good pick up right now, it's fallen down to $32 and its been pretty steady after its initial price jump. Red Pulse will definitely increase NEO's value shortly, so I would say it's the perfect entry point. I would also recommend looking into SysCoin. I've also been invested in Golem for a while now, but that is more of a long term hold.
Yeah, that's what I'm trying to achieve. Starting low and grow slowly. So what do you think splitting on 3-4 coins is better or all in on one coin?
What do you think about OMG

None... and if you still want to... dont day trade.... choose 2-3 coins and buy them and then forget for 3 months, then check on 1st january how you did...

I would pick lisk, waves and pick like 3-4 NEOs just because i think they will easily go to 75USD+ this year.

So profit would be low, but this will be more safe yeah?
