Almost every altcoin will survive one year later. More important, it would be better to predict which altcoins will be next the multi-bagger. The multi-bagger of last year was ETH, XEM and XMR. It would be interesting to see which altcoin can rise in the wave of the bitcoin bull market.

This. It would be better to ask which has survived several years and managed to hold onto listings on more than one exchange, and also hold onto their top ten position for liquidity.

There are very few that meet that criteria - litecoin, doge, ether and monero.

Yup not a single coin worth holding more than 1 month maximum, and that is stretching it. Most likely, if you hold an altcoin for more than 1 month, you will lose your BTC.

BTC is king, everyone is after your BTC, so keep your eyes wide open, or you may get scammed. This does not mean you must stop looking for new opportunities in the crypto world, but right now BTC rules.

there are many other good coin that survived and are not ico, like feathercoin, monacoin, vertcoin, spreadcoin etc...maybe you think they are second stuff coins but they are better than some listed there like steem, that was hacked or nxt which is a giant scam
There are many altcoins that survive for more than a year and those has a solid community supporters and investors. Those coins has also dedicated developers and active with the project.

But there are also coins that after ICO, devs are nowhere to be found and just sitting on exchanges. No specific roadmaps and its just become a scam. That is why, be careful to any altcoin you chose, as it will make or break you with your investment.

People are bias and will just post coins that they are supporting and trying to hype, check on coingecko and coinmarketcap to save you time, this is the best place and the only place worth looking for actively traded coin and not people's opinion.

This is not a discussion about ICOs or coins that might make it a year or more.

The question was which ones already have?

define "make it"?
many people say an altcoin survived more than a year but the price of that altcoin is now 0.5 satoshi or less. I personally don't call this survival. it stupidly exists on stupider exchanges! with this definition almost all the ICOs are "making it"!

to make it or survive a coin has to have high trade volume, a decent number of nodes, exist on some major exchanges and have a decent price and that price has to be going up compared to last year not be on a downward slope and dying. with this definition only 1 or 2 of them fall under the category.

Few of the new coins that may survive for next year are:
1. KMD (komodo)
2. Zcash
3. Lisk
4. Qtum
etc

Other than above alts, there are many ICO coins that will die within next few months.

Think about all the ICOs this year, half of them will dethrone half of current top coins, top coins are changing every year.

These are the coins with the most volume and hope it will remain the same .
1.Bitcoin
2.Ethereum
3.Litecoin
4.Monero
5.Tether
6.Dash
7.Pascal Coin
8.Ethereum Classic
9.E-Dinar Coin
10.Zcash

e-dinar coin not crypto coin only ponzy site, without Pool without mining
and you added edinar coin to most and the best top ten coin, iam only smile
That's right. E-dinar is just a Ponzi entitling itself as a crypto coin just like nowaday's cloud mining and utter scam, can't even say it's a shit coin because it's ain't coin.

I'm not a Bitcoin maximalist but one of my friends is. I was trying to discuss with him the altcoin market but numbers are showing that there are no reasons for discussion. As only Bitcoin goes up, altcoin market crashes. So, I'm not very convinced that altcoins will survive. You can speculate but there are no alts better than BTC. Almost all of them are scam coins.

What are some altcoins that have survived beyond 1 year with the following:

1) Still trading on at least one exchange
2) Blockchain is still moving
3) Nodes running
4) Bonus points for operational block explorer

I'll update this post with suggestions as we go. If you post a coin that has already been listed I'm going to troll you for it so attempting to boost your post count by mentioning already mentioned coins will get appropriate credit Wink

Coins that have made it so far:

Litecoin
Dogecoin
Ethereum
Dash
Peercoin

Those are the easy obvious ones. Who's got more?

Do we need a thread like this here,we can just go to coinmarketcap and see the coin which lasted not only one year but over 3 years, the top 25 coins, they are all still here and have all those you have listed, why not create another one about alctoins that only last 5 years.

1) Still trading on at least one exchange
2) Blockchain is still moving
3) Nodes running
4) Bonus points for operational block explorer

with these criteria there are hundreds of altcoins that have survived beyond 1 year because most of them are listed on poloniex and bittrex and many other exchanges and each of these are running a node and miners also run node so their blockchain is still moving.
I guess it is best to consider "how many nodes" and "who is running those nodes"
* for example bitcoin has 5500-6000 nodes run by many services and more importantly users. https://bitnodes.21.co/
* litecoin is the same. it has 4000-4500 nodes run by many services and more importantly users. https://bitinfocharts.com/litecoin/nodes/
* ethereum weirdly enough has more https://www.ethernodes.org/network/1 although it should be investigated to see if they are fake datacenter mass node numbers or is it actually users running them.

in short I say survival is not enough if they are just being traded and the coins never even leave the exchange wallet.

Ethereum (2015) has (unfortuantely) been going for a year.
Burstcoin (2014) also has lasted longer than a year.
