Great chart.

A couple updates for Counterparty:

  • Counterparty supports multisig.
  • Counterparty has smart contracts in development (they are already live on testnet).

@Bobster

I gotta admit, i do like Coingecko......even though NXT scores lower on aggregate there than on CMC, for example.
(though i've just taken a look, NXT is #11 on CG, #10 on CMC today)

I've been taking a look at lots of second generation crypto's lately, checking out the competition:

Here's the large version, btw:
http://i61.tinypic.com/34qwynp.jpg

An important metric that I'm not seeing on CoinGecko (or on the comparison chart) is the number of actual transactions per minute.
This could give a useful indication of the real use and adoption for specific currencies, in addition to simple trading volumes.

WOW! That is an epic comparison chart for crypto 2.0 coins. Thanks for sharing!
You are right that it would be good to list the number of actual transactions per minute. It is part of our long-term plan to track this metric!

CoinGecko gives a much more balanced view of how a crypto is doing than CMC, IMHO, and has a lot more info.
Top site.......!
Thank you for thinking that CoinGecko is a top site  Grin

Does CoinGecko lisy more coins than Coinmarketcap?
At the moment not yet but we are adding more coins each week. We track A LOT more metrics though!

I was gonna correct the NXT forum topics/posts issue, but I see you guys have figured it out.
Just to be completely anal, it's currently at:
Quote
148750 Posts in 6517 Topics by 3564 Members.

"Hippie movements", btw. Much LOL. Don't confuse a commitment to decentralisation with fuzzy headedness.
NXT may not have German Barons to whip us into line, but hippies we ain't. (well, mostly)

What's your view on BitShares?

BitShares 11946 Topics

https://github.com/BitShares
I don't have much of an opinion.

My initial impression is thtat

Also where did you get your stats on NXT?
You say they have 108000 topics but according to nxtforum.org they only have 6516, big difference?
Huh
nxtforum.org

"General Discussion" has 53,000 posts alone.

Also Dogecoin only has 9800 topics but you given them 40 000+?
Please see doges.org, as cited.

So BitShares may well have the most topics after Bitcoin then?

Eh, no.

Ok you're confusing posts and topics

If you look at nxtforum.org scroll to bottom you'll see a forum stats option...

NXT has 148711 posts and 6516 topics

https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?action=stats

BitShares has 168808 posts and 11946 topics

No, nxtforum.org has 53,000 topics in "General Discussion" alone. 108,000 topics as of yesterday, when I last checked.

Apologies for previous post, I meant "topics".

Yes you are confused. They have 53000 posts (Not Topics - you are wrong) in 'general discussion' but only 1545 topics

These contribute to their total of 148000 posts & 6516 topics

BitShares has both more posts and topics than any of the others you mentioned, excl. Bitcoin & BitShares probably have a pretty busy GitHub too by comparison I imagine.

Yes, you're right. My bad. nxtform.org doesn't have anywhere the number of topics I reported.

I think coingecko's analysis is far, far superior to mine (http://www.coingecko.com)

One thing I would say about coingecko: ripple's community is reported as being "forum.ripple.com". That's more for the developers and a place to talk directly to the employees. The real ripple talk takes place at xrptalk.org.

This results in the "community activity" metric for Ripple being unfairly attenuated.

Cool. Yeah you're right that coingecko site looks interesting will check it out a bit more.

- anyone whose business model revolves around Silk Road Reloaded is going nowhere

So thats Bitcoins business model?

Also, suppose, you know, Silk Road decides to implement all or some of the coins you have listed above? Would that too be their business model?

I don't really care about Silk Road Reloaded.

Anyway, Silk Road requires hiding your identity. If the Silk Road folks want to spend millions of $$$, time, effort and political persuasion into setting up a currency, best of luck to them.

Silk Road has done more damage to crypto than all the market manipulators put together.

And this post isnt damaging?

The FUD we see every day isnt just what you see written about on a forum. Its the people who past these kind of threads that abuse its name vocally to their friends and peers. Post after post on this forumn speaking about the fall of Bitcoin as people praise other coins that they hold more of. This is the stuff you would epect to see on cryptocointalk or something else more dedicated toward the inteterest.

Im not directing all of this toward you personally but its just getting old.

Sigh. Last time I checked, this is the alt-coin section.

If you don't like to hear objective criticism, then I suggest you go back to wherever you're most comfortable.
