Doing communication via board private message is inconvenient in order to talk about deals. Most users usually use Skype or MSN but some do not use any of them. I am looking for an instant messenger what is usable for both parties after a quick and simple registration. Any suggestions?

I tried Slack but its usage is limited for free users.

@mods: I do not know if this is the right section for this question. Please move it, if not!

Tox or Bleep is good, as they are not centralized and provide end to end encryption.

The most annoying thing with Skype is that it can easily reveal your IP address. I'm not sure if the same is possible with Tox.

I love it but nobody is on it unfortunately. Right now I think IRC is the best, classic way, to reach people for chat.
You know, I didn't know Skype could do that.

I noticed that nobody has suggested Bitmessage. Doesn't it meet your requirements?
Or am I missing something here?

Edit:
Ops, it must be the 'instant' part what is missing with Bitmessage...

I use it since some time directly and through bitmessage.ch, an email provide who is tunneling emails through bitmessage. I have to say that bitmessage is eating quite a lot of bandwidth. I'm not sure if it can be used for instant messaging, i doubt it a bit. But for using it as a secure email alternative it is a great thing.

meta would probably be a better fit for this topic.

Skype is maybe very popular but unfortunately, it is probably the worst existing solution available today in term of privacy.
I have been using tox lately and it works well enough
considering the nature of this forum, privacy is a big concern, and i honestly dont know why people even consider using skype  for deals on this forum. I would recommend using services such as safe-mail or torchat to maintain privacy.

Actually, you are right in terms of resolving problems. But for some deals i wrote over 20 pms over two days with one user before we had ruled a deal. This is very inconvinient. Best would be if bitcointalk would integrate the SMF instant messaging mod.

I would suggest doing it on here since it's always better when staff could review the pm's, and so judge the deals that were going on. In case a scam happened. Of course the escrow would deal as far as he can but it might be that a party feels treated wrong. Then staff can review and knows what happened.

There are plenty of clients, including Pidgin. I personally like irssi due to the fact that it comfortably works with a terminal emulator. You can use any IRC client that is compatible with your system.

Thanks, I just tried it. It seems not really user-friendly. Is there client with a nice UI what can be used for freenode?

I've had a great experience with IRC, on Freenode. I use a conventional client (irssi or hexchat) and point others to https://webchat.freenode.net if they do not have a client configured for freenode.

Also, you could put this in trading discussion. It seems to be on topic (mods, correct me if I'm wrong)
