I'm of the opinion that the preview tab is good enough for you to review your posts and see how it appears on the forum. Using a note app may be ideal if you're working on a lengthy topic that requires research and may take days to finish. Other than that, the preview tab is better as you will be able to see problems with url links, embedded images and so on.

Dear, there is no need to use Notepad before creating posts for bitcointalk and if you feel you have some grammatical problem or spelling problem you can use the Grammarly extension on Chrome that can help you to optimize/remove your post mistakes. On the other hand, creating posts on Notepad does not provide adding tags easily while here on bitcointalk it is more handy and easy to use/add tags so in short it will take less of your time to create posts on bitcointalk rather than creating posts on notepad.

Most of us here are not English native speakers and that's fine. If someone is struggling to post in English language, there's always the local board of your country where you can discuss and practice.

I agree to the folks that have said that preview button is enough or even without the need to preview it, just read and review your post before pressing that 'post' button.

I know that with these tools will make you look good but use them as a guide until you think that you can stand alone without them.

But it's not an issue whether you use them or not. Whatever makes you feel good and free, follow those tips.

What's the point of using that when you have the preview tab which is to enable you see what you want to post and how it will appear on the forum, this way you can check for errors in spelling, grammar,  quotes, image and so on. Notepad does not show these so I don't see any need going through that lengthy process for something the forum have a better option.

Although, Op didn't give a better explanation but I think why he brought this up is not all about previewing your post and making corrections, it more than that. The notepad comes very handy because there are times you may be typing a lengthy post using the forum's editor, there may be some network challenge at your end. The page would reload and you could lose everything you've typed.

There is a preview feature before posting, I do not think that there is a need for a notepad for this.  Aside from that, anyone can use Grammarly as a plugin for checking spelling, grammar, and sentence structure corrections.  And once we preview our post, it is automatically saved.

A draft is now saved whenever you post or preview a PM or post. You can see your saved drafts here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=drafts

In case there is a connection problem, a simple copy and paste can do it. You can also click the arrow on the browser to go back to the previous page if ever there is a problem with the connection when you click post.

It can be esay use when you have some writeups to make.
Using a notepad might be convenient for you but that's not the case for others. I think it is time-wasting to use in making posts on the forum because other options could enable you to correct your posts. I don't know how you got the information that many high-ranking members use notepads or are you just assuming? This is another case of a newbie teaching what he is unsure of. I am suggesting that you consider using a grammar checker to edit your post because the notepad you recommend is not helping you produce quality post.  Your post is filled with many typographical and grammatical errors.

Preview button is enough, no need to used any other apps. And then used https://www.grammarly.com/ if you are a non-Native speaker just like the rest of us here. You don't need to complicated things if you are going to stay in this community.

Notepad does have a function that makes it easier for people to write. Relying on a notepad in writing is also not always helpful because there are drawbacks that require us to be careful when using it, such as the possibility of collecting our personal information.

Using notepad to make posts is not that important for me because before posting, I always use the preview button to see if I need to make any edits.
But that's okay if using a notepad is important to you.

You're right and I have experienced this several times concerning my network issue, I never thought about notepad when I experienced this and it could be of good help but I tried changing my browser and it worked, using a good browser can help solve this problem of network leading to reloading of a new page, instead of a new page the browser will take me back to my writing.

I guess using a notepad is a choice, if you wish to use it, that’s fine, but if you don’t wish, then you can just forget about it. When you click on reply button on the forum, you have enough space to type anything you want, and you can also edit and preview your post. I don’t think there is any difference between using Notepad and posting on Forum directly, using Forum even has more advantages than using Notepad because you can preview your post to see how it looks, and after previewing your post, your post will automatically be saved in draft. So I don’t really know why you think using Notepad is really useful on forum.

I think for a forum post that is just made up of a few lines rereading it before posting is oftentimes more than enough for a double-check. If there's an image or some specific formatting, you can preview it as well. You can do all these on the forum. You don't have to use another app just to make sure your post is decent and correct.

Besides, I'm sure you will also read it once more when it's already posted. You can still do some editing right away if needed. Also, a post here isn't a formal composition. Indention, perfect use of grammar and punctuations, and so on don't have to be strictly observed. The content counts more.

Some notepads are also tracking tools which collects information about you, so you should limit your usage.

I agree. We are increasingly relying on more and more tools to do what we've always done without them, and this is a problem. If you want to use Notepad yourself it's up to you, but I wouldn't advice something like that to the rest of the members of the forum, especially when you get no substantial advantage by using it, and you may be contributing to deanonymize yourself. I think that I'm not wrong if I say that Satoshi wouldn't use it.

I'm not a native speaker, so usually I use some grammar checker tools to help me before posting. I write it down there and let them check the spelling and misgrammar for me; that's why I don't need the notes. However, if it's used to probably write down the topic or something that you want to post but don't have the time yet, then it's useful, I think. You can just add the important points to elaborate later, when you have time to post in the forum.

with Auto-Save posts to drafts Userscript, you do not need to use the Notepad app, as you will return to find all the past edits fortunately, unless you decide to write a long thread with a detailed explanation of some concepts, then you can rely on some third-party applications for formatting, but remember that some bbcode may not work in the forum, so it is better to click on Preview before posting.

Use notepad, Microsoft Word or similar tool to compose your post before copy and paste it to Bitcointalk to make it as your post.

If you don't want to do it off-Bitcointalk first, you can use click on Preview like some users shared above or use the [Userscript] Auto-Save your posts to drafts.

I prefer to do it off-Bitcointalk because sometimes you will have issues with your log-in session and if you don't handle it properly, you will lose the content.

Where and when did theymos make the law that everyone must first use a notepad to edit their posts before publishing in BTT?
It was just his personal opinion and probably he's applying that to himself.

Well, the writing pad itself as we reply is enough but if you want to be formal and perfect with your grammar then use all of those grammar check that have been mentioned.

And before you publish any post, make sure to check and re-read them. We're in an online forum so whether you're formal with your words or not, the thought and understanding are that counts.

You can use ms word instead since there is a built in spelling checker there, grammarly too to check grammar if that's what you feel better. Either way it's good practice but it's not necessary, this is just a forum, where informal discussions, slang words, abbreviations are used, as long as your words are understandable, that's enough.

I'm also using a preview before posting I don't know where OP got the idea of a notepad application, the preview feature of the forum makes it easy for you to look at how well the post looks like when you post, I advise OP to do away with the note app and just use the preview feature forum, you're using a forum and not creating an essay for another platform and the forum also has a draft feature so you can save your post in case you want to post it later.

I don't think it's important at all. Moreover, I think most users don't use notepad app at all when writing their posts. There's no need, as the forum software already has a perfectly functional text editor.

OP, have you considered using a spell-checker instead? I believe it would be more beneficial in your situation.

Firstly, Op your writing is very poor you should start by improving your writing skills or you can use some good AI tools such as Grammarly [1] and Quilbot Grammer checker [2] to correct your grammatical errors and spellings.

Secondly, this issues of writing on a notepad before copying and pasting on the forum text space has been discussed several times and I better solution has been issued by @Tryninja through this [Userscript] Auto-Save your posts to drafts[3] to help improve the forum experience. With this script you can write as much as you wish here in the forum text space without having issues of deleted text as a result of page been refresh accidentally.
