Eloncoin.org - Mars, here we come!
[snip]
Websites will notice that they are getting much more internet traffic from El Salvador, which means it will be trending even more and pumping bitcoin more.

Soon most trustable VPN providers will be forced to have servers in 'El Salvador'. Let's pump it.  Cool
Well, this proves that people in China were still access bitcoin even though they strictly prohibited to use it right?
For sure those who have used VPN and perhaps El Salvador Ip address was a good server for them to use since it is legalized bitcoin there. That is how bitcoin can use and it is expected that there are more are keep coming using on this El Salvador server. However, we don't know that this will be also a criminal will take advantage of the opportunity, there could be pros and cons with this.

Not just because El Salvador has officially regulated bitcoin and crypto within their country wouldn't necessarily mean it is a good idea to set your IP address to theirs. You should remember that the use of crypto on their nation is still under development and there is no guarantee yet that it will produce a good outcome but let's hope it will. Also, there are some few countries that restricts the use of other nation's IP address so it wouldn't always be ideal. Maybe once El Salvador's revolution becomes successful, this could be a new and ideal way when shopping online but for now, let us obey the rules.

This is a great idea but unfortunately, there are some countries where it is forbidden to change the IP address.  There are even applications that are banned if changing the ip.  It's not clear how that will pump up the Bitcoin price.  This includes a strategy that can be profitable, we still have to participate because it will benefit most crypto holders.  This idea is very good when accompanied by a complete procedure and I hope luck is on our side.

It sounds like a good idea but unfortunately, changing IP addresses in our country is strictly prohibited. Some of our apps and jobs would get banned if we'll do that. It isn't clearly stated how it would pump the price of Bitcoin but if strategies like this would work, we should still participate because it will benefit most of the crypto holders.

Nothing lasts forever
I am not really sure how would using El Salvador's IP addresses would increase the usage of bitcoin.
Using El Salvador's IP address would more internet traffic from that country but it doesn't mean people are paying in bitcoin.
If we have to show an increase in usage of bitcoin as payment then we would need to encourage more merchants to start accepting bitcoin.
Also, we can create a demand of products and goods from El Salvador and pay them in bitcoin(including all tax applicable of course)  to show the real usecase of bitcoin.

@remotemass
This only makes sense if a lot of online stores have BTCitcoin as one of their payment methods, but that's not the case [unfortunately] and even then, we can achieve similar results ["pumping BTCitcoin"] without using a Salvadoran‎ IP.
- I read all of your posts in this thread and I do agree with what @avikz said; It's going to be more beneficial to El Salvador than it'll be for BTCitcoin.

Apologies, I prefer to stay in reality!

That's fair enough, you don't believe it. But you can be sure if one day you are the CEO of Nike, or of Adidas or of Pepsi or of Coke and 1% of your customers are coming from El Salvador IP addresses, you will be faced with new business opportunities. It's just a plain fact. There will be innovation coming with more El Salvador flags invading the world wide web surface.

I am not sure how it will help to pump bitcoin in anyway! I have used a few VPNs, and I have never seen El-Salvador as a routing address ever. Firstly, is there a VPN available that would route you through a server located in El Salvador?

Secondly, even if companies see that more traffic is coming from this country, how it would help to pump bitcoin? Not making sense! A little more explanation would be nice!

If we all started demanding it there would be a domino effect and most VPN providers would have to have VPN servers in El Salvador, hiring more engineers there and hardware/infrastructure.

Also, worldwide business people would realize that El Salvador is trending in many ways on the internet creating ripple effects in the whole economy.
If El Salvador is seen worldwide as a biz galvanizer it will attract more money than Barak Obama giving a speech...

Sorry, I am a bit short of a better explanation but I think you get the idea. People would say, wait these people are really passionate about El Salvador... And that means money attraction and business galvanization.

That would create opportunities for El-Salvador as the local population will find employment. Probably the name will find more visibility in the business world. But a country with only 6 million population is not an enticing proposition to any business even if they are trending in the biz world. Had it been a densely populated country, the businesses would have shown interest.

Also I fail to understand how bitcoin will pump if it happens. Those domino effecta and ripple effects and other business jargons are ok but how it would help bitcoin? No way! I want it to happen but seems like an imaginary expectation. Apologies, I prefer to stay in reality!

If companies are required to accept Bitcoin then I will have to invest in a good VPN with servers in El Salvador. There are already people who use a VPN to get a better deal on their Netflix subscription. For me it is not so much about saving money but about being able to pay with Bitcoin. If they see that they're getting so many people paying in bitcoin then they will just enable this payment option for the rest of the world.

If you don't know which country to use, choose 'El Salvador' IP address. Thank you!

If you don't use any VPN just send emails to VPN providers asking for VPN servers located in El Salvador... Live chat!

I understand what OP is talking about, but honestly, I don't think it's going to happen quickly. That's a very nice approach to the problem, but the problem is that it's only seen as one of the reasons to drive the rise of BTC.

Not to burst the bubble, but this is going to be artificial internet traffic?
And how it will help or pump the price of Bitcoin. Of course we love and welcome what El Salvador has done by legally accepting BTC. But it will be better to see natural and organic searches or spike in El Salvador.

Think of it as building new roads and bridges. The more people using ip addresses from El Salvador will be expanding the internet infrastructure there! Simple.

Your ip address is like a business card. If it is based in El Salvador it is as if it is saying "We love bitcoin".

Let's pump it.

I don't think this is a bad idea, and I'm sure there's no harm in doing it, but how effective is this really going to be? We currently have no idea how much usage will actually increase, or even if they can roll it out successfully. It's also worth noting that USD is also legal tender there, so touting their IP could just as easily say "We love USD."

I'm personally not convinced this can move the needle in a meaningful way, but hey, there should be no harm in going for it.

I seldom use VPN. I only used it when I am trying to access some site that recommend me to use it... But I will do such thing if that idea will help you or us, or even El Salvador. I heard that Bitcoin is legal in El Salvador. But I don't know how using an IP from El Salvador will help pump it. But I guess I should trust you...

It will help, because it will get noticed. +1.

Great idea, lol. But be aware too that maybe some platform or services online that you will use may not allow the user that using VPN, much better to check first their Term Of Services because it could lead to your funds being locked because you violated some of their term of services, just my 2 cents.
Btw, is this not considered cheating? Like, it's not natural that El Salvador is driving adoption, it's some people who are just changing IP address to El Salvador? But overall, I don't find any bad things here, it's just like you are lying.
