I like the idea.

They're looking into the future of convenience. Smiley

However, I agree with you that they need to rethink and change a lot of things to actually work.

This has so many liability issues, that any company that would actually use drones commercially for delivery or otherwise better have some deep pockets and the very best lawyers.

Jeff Bezos should stfu and try generating a profit for his company sometime instead of rambling about delivery drones.

And start paying taxes. I'm pretty sure this whole drone thing is just a publicity stunt, and it worked; look at all the free advertising he got out of it.

This, free advertisement. You have to be creative to come with something new to get media attention, even if it dont work well you may get free advertisement

Besides being hunted for sport, I'm sure hackers will try to hijack them.

It would suck to expect an amazon delivery via drone but it never arrived to its intended destination.

it wont be able to fly in many countries

Thats why changing laws is necessary. Future is in drones flying over our heads like crazy. Next step = flying cars, no roads necessary anymore !

Now I'm imagining drones electromagneting onto flying cars heading their direction to cut down on fuel and crash risk, sort of like ectosymbionts. Flying car owners could set beacons with their docking rates and BTC addresses, or refuse all docks and repulse rogue drones.

This would be badass and also solve our problems of congestion so it's a win win for me.

but still its need too much work by the companies and authorities so best thing is right now patiently wait for this complete update  Grin

I look forward to the hunter-killer pirate drones.

Open source drone software + off the shelf model aircraft + some simple sensors = a disposable drone for hunting down Amazon and other drones.

the future's gonna be fun Cheesy

As far as tampering goes, fire a camera and a gps on them, and impose a huge fine to anyone who tampers with them. Video evidence + GPS = even more profitable than had someone not tampered with them.

These things are very vulnerable.

Very vulnerable. I'd try capture them just for the sport. It'd be like hunting.

Then a person could just hide let's up in a tree behind leaves with a sniper rifle, wait until it passes by and the cameras are not pointing at the tree, then fire.

For GPS protection all the person would have to do is travel 10 miles from where he lives, and even further down for more protection, and shoot at some drones from there.

These things are very vulnerable.

This is awesome. While I at first thought it would be hugely unefficent and expensive, if they are only talking about a 10 minute airtime, then that wouldn't be any more expensive than just using decent rechargable licad batteries to power the drones. It costs the same amount to ship a package 1 mile from your location as it does to ship it 800 across state lines, So I suppose they could technically be cost efficent.
