First, research papers these days are thin on scientific rigor.

Second, you can extrapolate that only a certain portion of the population has smartphones.

Only a small portion of those have the technical aptitude to jaibreak their phones.

An even smaller portion of them have any reason to jailbreak.

An even smaller portion of them decide to actually jailbreak.

Furthermore jailbreak no longer has the benefits it once did.

I'd put it no more than 5%

They aren't the average users.  Wink

Most people don't jailbreak their phones.
Average people don't jailbreak/root their phones*

Incorrect.

Some average people don't. Some average people do.

Some extraordinary people don't. Some extraordinary people do.

But by and large, most people don't jailbreak their phones.
Please point me to the research paper that will confirm this.

imo the average user doesn't jailbreak or root their phone.. this is just an anecdotal opinion though. most people don't really know what jailbreak is, nor do they care for it. i see a lot of iphone users who own it just because it's "an iphone." they don't even use their phone for much of anything besides calling their friends and family... in which case it's become a vanity phone.
