It's completely true. Slick made this date up in his head. Fact. At no point ever have they specifically said, on the 12th of October we will have news.

Yes they have missed dates. Dates that I too really wanted to see some action on. I too was disappointed. Here's just how disappointed that is: I bought some pretty expensive asics when they were new. They have done until recently, NOTHING but mine Octocoin. If Octocoin doesn't happen, they never get paid off. Categorically.

What they have stated is that news is imminent, or rather, should be. About two weeks ago, they said news would be.. about two weeks.. However this does not change the artificiality of the construct Slick formed in his head. His need for a stiff date stems only from his (understandable) lack of confidence in their likelihood of deliverance. That they missed this abstracted date, it really is no surprise, as it was inferred and nothing more.

Let's not make this like the URO thread, if I keep reading the same shite from the same two people, mindlessly licking their keyboard rather than actually discussing things, they're just going to get blocked, and I'll be happier for it. You can be pissed off at the devs, as angry as you like, but making things up is just going to get you sat in the corner with the pointy D hat.

This is untrue. The developers have given date after date (off the top of my head, because it's been a LOT: a couple weeks multiple times, a specific calendar date at least once in August), and have delivered nothing.

I think DJ is right on about a lot of things. Including that crypto is fast moving and changing. Sitting on "millions of lines of code" (the DEVS words not mine) and letting the world move ahead of them seems unwise to me. Lying to their community over and over is far worse than unwise.

Just sell... really. Stop your bitching or sell. You invented a magical date from the arse end of nowhere, and are mad they didn't arbitrarily meet your demands. Does everybody want an update? Sure of course we all do. Does everyone want to feel like they made a good choice in Octo? Of course we all do.

Does this mean bitching at every invented stop point is helpful in any way? No, it isn't, has never been, nor will it ever be useful.

i know we're both frustrated, but let's be real.

riding on the backs of the MOST SUPPORTIVE COMMUNITY EVER, they've managed to do exactly jack crap in 7 months. so my question is why don't people change their tune? insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. try calling them out DIRECTLY instead of pussyfooting around like a gentleman. you remember when people bitched about the random bonus blocks getting thwarted? yeah, the WHOLE community made a stink, and it got sorted. I even have a PM from octocoin saying that it's the right thing to do, and this time they have to cave to pressure and actually release something soon. I was telling them they should fix it asap, but as a whole don't ever bow down to people rushing a release before it's finished. i still stand by that, when it's unreasonable impatient people saying they want something NOW NOW NOW.

looking back 3 months and asking yourself... "sooo what happened to that August 1st date you said you'd probably have a service live by?" is NOT the community being impatient, it's the community being patient to a fault.

honestly what do we have to lose? show them a message that this is bollocks. they only way i can see this being a bad thing is if their team is honestly made up of 8 year olds and they're going to fall to tears because some bad men on the internet CALLED THEM ON THEIR SHIT.

Has anyone sent the devs a PM or just rant about dissatisfaction on the thread and expect them to read it? If you sent a PM to them, please let me read it so I don't write the same thing when I send them a PM on Wednesday for a status report. Thank you.

i'm not forgiving them for shit. i'm just as annoyed and disappointed as you or anyone else here. i'm just into playing little word games because it will get no results from them.

at this point it's hold or sell. i'm holding because it's too risky to sell and there's no volume of buyers.

we'll see when they actually get around to doing something. for now i'm not interested in pretend deadlines based on a phrase that you want to play on.

i see why you say it and you are right, a COUPLE of weeks is technically two. until they give me an exact date i'm not holding my breath.

they haven't met any of their other deadlines so i don't see any reason to get hope up based on this.

people say a couple of weeks all the time meaning more than plural. even if that's wrong people still do it.

nothing wrong with having hope either. i'm invested in this also and i hope they fix their shit and show us something.

yeah, that's nice, you know you could use your voice on a forum to push things forward instead of just saying "whatever, get it done today, or tomorrow, or next year, no rush man". While a nice thought, this isn't the way business works. people backing this coin seem so willing to just keep giving the devs an unlimited timetable, and that is hurting our investment.

i know why you all do this, you have an investment, you're scared for your investment, you don't want negativity surrounding your investment, cause then no one will want to buy any of your coins! this I understand.

the ISSUE with this, is that it puts no fire under the feet of the devs to deliver anything. they have no incentive, they have no reason to rush, they can drag their feet and release nothing month after month after month. their story is that these things take time yada yada mergers acquisitions etc etc. which is all fine and dandy, but the clock is ticking, and this is the golden time for new cryptos right now. it might not be so tomorrow.

The crypto world doesn't stop. Crypto is moving forward in leaps and bounds, what is a great plan today, will already have 10 coins doing the same thing tomorrow. other coins are doing all sorts of innovative inventive things. if we keep allowing these timetables to keep slipping, then we're just going to get left in the dust, and guess what? THAT'S BAD FOR OUR INVESTMENT!

i'd love to give these guys 5 years to figure out what they're doing and get it just right, but the crypto world doesn't work that way! I can only imagine the brilliant ideas that team octo wanted to implement, only to have them crop up in other coins, 6 months is a long time! the Scrypt algorithm is already completely outdated and we just finished the bonus blocks! This coin is moving SLOWWWW. we need some momentum, or we're going to be left behind.

p.s. one thing i can say is that whoever is writing the "octocoin" posts seems very professional, intelligent. they aren't going to get scared and run away if you voice your opinion. they might actually listen and change their behaviour.

I've been waiting patiently since day one. I'll continue to wait until the price gets to a desirable location. Even then, I'm sure I'll continue to wait.

"couple" CAN BE synonymous with "pair" , that's right.
But even if they won't deliver something in the moment, what's the option? Selling for 250 satoshi?

this is not open to interpretation. "hey bob i'll get that report on your desk in a couple days" = 2 days.

it's now been exactly 14 days, or a "couple" of weeks since the announcement.

and although i agree that it's stupid to continue to give them a pass for such misconduct, i'll wait till the end of the day to make up my mind. they say they read every post in the forums, if that's true, then they obviously know we're expecting them to deliver on that thing they promised to do by today.

bottom line is, if they communicate nothing once again, then it's clear that you, the people who have bought octocoin, who have mined octocoin, who have created a warm welcoming community around octocoin, are not important. their plans do not hinge upon any of us, we're inconsequential.  either that or it's all a big hoax. OR they'll come through.

but i gotta say, it would be nice to have some fucking solidarity with the community with this. i'm upset to see people still apologizing, this time pre-fail. frameLA, you're pre-emptively forgiving them of their failure, before they've even failed. it's laughable. come on dude.

Completely disagree. A couple weeks is an actual measure of time.

nobody said anything specifically is happening today. its stupid to get your hopes up because someone determines "a couple of weeks" to be an actual date.
