Hmm, quite interested in this. Might try it out later.
Hesitant because of a possible scam? You can run cgminer in its original window (check "Seperate window") so you can see the pool and account being used.
Probably more concerned about a hidden trojan/keylogger/way to seal wallets/coins. Not saying there is one in there, just that it makes sense to be cautious.
Are you releasing source? I'm really interested but hesitant.

Seems like it is a preference. This one you get to pick the coins yourself. There are a couple different things you can do with this. Also, I'm assuming this would be better for your pocket. Those multipools never paid very well for me.

The basic idea is similar but you have more control.- You decide which coins to mine. I, for example, only use 3-4 different ones.
- You can use pools of your choice.
- You decide when to keep or trade.
- You can choose the switching interval.
- You can turn of auto-switching when you would want to.
