I'm not especially a fan of names like xxx-note, xxx-coin, xxx-shares, etc.

I'm also not especially a fan of coins that do frequent rebrands for whatever reasons (generally not good ones).

I also think it would be better if/when we decide to rebrand later that we not have a history of frivolous rebrands.

I think the current branding is okay, certainly not terrible enough to justify a rebrand right now. As things develop later its something we might do, in a well-managed way (most rebrands by other coins have been done terribly from a marketing perspective imo).

I just hope poloniex will re-list AEON.

I have every expectation there will be exchange listings (though not going to mention any specific exchanges until they either commit publicly or announce it themselves) after the first hard fork is complete, which now appears to be on track to happen fairly soon. Once I successfully test the new pool modifications and confirm the build process with Arux, I will tag a new release with a specified block height for the fork.

Awesome smooth.

I buy in this coin because of your work on Monero.

Here's a ccminer win.x86 binary using the sources provided by Moneromooo : ccminer-cryptonote-lite-beta.zip
It was compiled with support for compute levels 2.0 all the way up to 5.2.

I have tested basic functionality (all shares accepted by the test pool) using a GTX 980 card, but have not investigated the matter of optimal blocks * threads setting. A good baseline for anyone that used TSIVs miner for Cryptonight, is to start with the same -l settings, and then explore different values.

Sample launch string (one also provided in the linked zip):
Code:
ccminer.exe -o stratum+tcp://aeonpool.mooo.com:5555 -u WmsWhL4rXxK6g4FrtsrBweT6txczfkjLFXjHjR1FgBx8aATnZrqccZPN2st667SHH99wRNz4RYeURX9r3GTZnmn21vorqh9EH -p x -A

Note the -A switch at the very end. This is the current selector for the lite version, otherwise the miner will run with regular cryptonight.
The pool port above is only for test purposes (not generating coins), and might not be up at all times (ping Moneromooo if necessary).

myagui and MoneroMooo are awarded the contract to upgrade the tsiv nvidia miner for 9500 AEON.

I understand they have made excellent progress on both tasks and the results will be ready for testing soon (if not already). Great work guys!

For completion testing, please provide the changes on a github fork/branch and PM the information to me or post it here.

In a PM between me and dnaleor he suggest Litenote as a new name for AEON, I think it sounds much better and considering the "lite" new POW it could be a strategic marketing move.

It's indeed something I thought about, let me explain it a bit more:

AEON wants to have a more "lightweight" approach with pruning, lighter mining algorithm, running nodes on smartphones, etc.

Furthermore, I see AEON as "the little brother" of XMR. It's possible that AEON can become an important factor in testing new features that can eventually be transferred to XMR. And there is even more, smooth is a dev of both coins.
If we use the 'lite' brand, we ride on the notion of litecoin being "the silvers to bitcoin's gold". If we adopt this new name, the coin would be immediately associated with being "the silver to cryptonote/XMR gold"

This positions the coin in the right place imho. So the 'lite' brand has 2 meanings: 'lightweight' and 'silver'.
There is a new dev team now, so rebranding AEON to Litenote (XLN) might be a good idea.

It's just an idea, don't know what others think about it.

I would concur with this.

@Moneromoo : Could I be awarded with the nvidia compilation / testing ?  Smiley

Sure Smiley

Edit:

Edit: For the joint effort with Moneromoo, I bid my portion of the task at 4500 AEON.

Same. So a joint bid of 9000.

I'm awarding the contract for the pool upgrade bounty to MoneroMooo for 10 000 AEON.

I'm leaving open the tsiv miner upgrade, since I'm in no hurry to grab that work item myself and that is best done once there is an upgraded pool to test against anyway, so it is fine to have that contract start a bit later.

Since noone else chimed in for tsiv's... I don't have the hardware to test, but I've just hacked the build stuff to compile with GCC instead of nvcc, and the changes are similar to the few I've already done, so I can make the change, and it will *probably* work, just can't test myself.

So I can bid for 5k, plus 5k for smooth to build and run it on my test pool to double check it does indeed work.

I like it more than Aeon. It sounds more serious now (like DigitalNote), the connotations are better. Plus the Aeon sounds too ethereal.

I bid for the pool software: 10000 AEON

I want to get the first hard fork deployed soon and included with that task I would like to have mining pool support.

In order to accelerate the process, I'm offering development bounties from the donation fund for upgrading the pool software (zone and/or universal) and tsiv GPU miner to support the modified PoW for the upcoming hard fork.

The way the bounties will work is that developers can bid (lowest bid wins). When there is a significant pause in bidding (e.g. no bids for 24 hours), I will award a contract. Contract awards will go to the lowest bidder that I judge qualified (if unsure whether a bidder is qualified, I will ask for documentation of past work such as github repos, etc.) Upon awarding a contract the developer will have one week to deliver an acceptable solution (judged by me). If no solution is delivered within one week, the contract will expire and the task will be reopened for new bids.

Starting bids:

pool software: 10000 AEON

tsiv miner: 10000 AEON

I bid 10000 for the tsiv miner since it is easier for me to work on that than the pool code, but i prefer that I get outbid since I have other tasks to work on.

EDIT: added note that only qualified bids will be accepted.
