Did Aeon fork into 2 chains?

Technically yes (as is always the case, there is always someone who doesn't upgrade) but there is no evidence of any uptake of the pre-V7 chain (no exchanges listing it, no projects claiming to take on support of it, etc.)

I actually find it very unclear as to what algorithm Aeon uses after the fork. I am something of a noob mind you. Is it Cryptonight Lite or a variation of Cryptonight Lite?  Huh

Variant of CryptoNight-Lite.

I pointed a couple of CPUs at AEON in time for the fork, and although the pool I chose before going to sleep for the night wasn't ready for the fork (grrr.... wasted ~10-12 hours of the most profitable mining), after switching to www.aeon-pool.com it's been smooth sailing. Smiley

When will the Difficulty start dropping it is still way too high?

38 minutes for a block when it should be 4 minutes.

Difficulty reduced by 17 times. I am curious what difficulty are you expecting to be normal?

Right now i see 16 blocks in last 2 hours so on average one per 7 minutes. That is almost double as it should be.

Thanks for the update Smooth, that is most excellent news indeed.  I am looking forward to the fork and will try to have a few CPUs ready to mine when it the time comes around.

Does anyone know how to fix the aeon-gui wallet background? It's all garbled text or code in the background that makes it really hard to use it.  The Monero GUI wallet was the same the last time I used that too.

Something is definitely going wrong. Please report it in Monero's bug tracker: https://github.com/monero-project/monero-gui/issues/new

Hello Aeon believers,

Our aim is to add value to the whole crypto community by giving the best user experience to analyse cryptocurrencies.

It would be really great help from your side if you can spend 60 seconds of your time and give us your valuable feedback for our two recent updates 1) Snapshot and 2) Colourful interface of Aeon at: https://cointopper.com/coin/aeon

Constructive criticisms are always welcome at CoinTopper.  Thank you!!

so  the new wallet needs a good computer updated: for example

-does not work with 32 bits
-for ubuntu, version 17.10 or higher...

do you know other requirements ?

As far as I can see in the readme of Monero GUI (https://github.com/monero-project/monero-gui), 32 bit builds are still supported except for Windows. The minimum required Qt version is 5.7, so Ubuntu 17.10 or higher is needed in order to build with the packaged Qt installed via 'apt get install'. But you can still build with an older Ubuntu if you install the newer version of Qt manually. Other than that, I don't know of any other system requirements.

Doge already almost mined out AFAIK, make sense to be an LTC slug being in a danger of 51% from scrypt LTC miners due to low block reward and price.
And Doge is so stupid since day 1 also, mostly held by people who really can afford to lose it all, so no panic dumps.

Interestingly DOGE has a tail reward and LTC does not (instead it uses the fast exponential decline to zero like BTC) so at some point things will reverse and DOGE will have the higher block rewards! (Assuming both are still around.)

I downloaded and installed the new version of Aeon, on Ubuntu 64 bit, and downloaded the blockchain with out any issue.

I used "./aeon-wallet-cli --restore-deterministic-wallet"

I used my original aeon seed words that I have used since the beginning, it seemed to work and it has the same wallet address, the same view key but different seed words in the output after the wallet is restored than I used to restore it.?  Huh

Is that the expected result?

Currently doing the first refresh from the beginning and its not done yet.

EDIT: It seems to work ok, shows transactions now.

The format for the seed words has been updated with the rebase. The format of the old seed with 24 words (now deprecated) is referred to as "EnglishOld" and has a different set of words than the new format with 25 words called "English" (see https://github.com/aeonix/aeon/blob/master/src/mnemonics/english_old.h vs https://github.com/aeonix/aeon/blob/master/src/mnemonics/english.h).

The new format also supports multiple languages. You can choose a different language for the seed words by typing 'set seed language' in aeon-wallet-cli.
