Your Network. Your Rules.
Why buy this over ethereum?
Ethereum is likely dried up. Buy more AMP before it reaches 50k sat per token (and it will really do when the network goes live).

when does the network goes live?

A matter of weeks until Beta..!

Update Summary
This week, UI design ideas are discussed in depth, including concepts related to gamification. Special focus is put on the search function in Synereo. How post relevance is sorted in the attention economy is explained, and how users can improve that function with additional inputs. Our new Community Manager, Hendrik Jan Hilbolling, is announced and introduced.

##[Detailed notes]

###05:00 — Gamified design ideas
Christian gives a rundown of his perspective of one possible big target audience, and some gamified design ideas. He gives a presentation regarding social problems of today, and an interesting mix of current ideas, culture, and technology. He gives examples of Apps that could be monetized by entrepreneurs.

###14:26 — Comments on gamification
Dor comments on gamification. Clarifies the idea of building the product first, and then going for large number of users.

###15:34 — Reputation on a blockchain; Factom
Dor talks about credentials, and the LivelyGig approach to trust in a transaction. Then some info on Factom and the blockchain. Not all info is public though, and privacy has a place too.

###17:30 — Open Access; credentials
Malthus John connects the idea of credentials for business reputation management to another potential market, the Open Access scientific publishing arena. Alongside OA, higher education also has a problem with certifying abilities, and also to gain the full social value of the growth of MOOCs, and prepare people for living in modern society.

###19:21 — UI Design
Eric talks about the User Interface design, and core product vision. He also adds more to the gamification subject. He noted that games usually come out in one final version, whereas this will be more of a ‘rolling release’, being worked on and improved along the way.

###28:34 — The search function
The central concepts of the “AT” (@) and the “SHARP” (#), and how they tie into searches. Search on a distributed network is an aggregated function, across nodes. Dina follows up with information about search from the UX (User Experience) perspective. A rich search environment is described, including includes/excludes, people, venues, channels, hashtags, etc. The process should be easy to manage, and flexible. Customization will be an important feature.

When certain features get included will depend on the developer’s estimations of the time it will take to implement them.

###46:28 — Attention economy & relevance
Dor brings up how in the Synereo attention economy, engagement on older posts will put posts back into fresh streams. This includes personalization based on your local node, relationships, past topics, etc. There is also some thinking about having more persistent locations, like collections of things.

###50:21 — User input: quality vs ease Dor also talks about the need for more input than the typical posting process in order to improve the standard results seen on other social networks, but that this has not been popular. He asks for suggestions on this. Dina says the design on posting is still being worked on, but that posting experience might be different depending on the context. Eric adds that there can be elements of ‘free UX’, where people can create open places (similar to groups or communities) and others can add to it. These could be public, private, secret, etc.

Malthus suggested a pop-up ‘helper bot’ that would follow up an easy, one-click posting process with some relevant hashtags, groups, or other ways the system could better signal where a particular post would go, and those could be accepted by the user with one click as well.

###61:36 — Community news Dor welcomed Bhokor to the community, who has been working on Spanish translations. We now have Spanish Facebook and Twitter pages that will mirror the English ones.

Hendrik (HJ) takes on the role of Community Manager.

While the contributions during the sale were generous and numerous, they summed up to a number that’s at the low end of what’s required for a project at this scale.

Have you tried getting sponsorship from big companies like Google, Microsoft etc? They sure will see the opportunity to get their foot into the door.

Nope. They're a sort of anti-thesis to what we're doing here.

How many AMPs will a node operator typically get for running a Synereo node, or what does that depend on? Will that work with the MLP already?

We're going to involve the community in figuring this out very soon. Expect more info shortly.

What if you could influence Facebook's design a moment before it was released?

A first glimpse into Synereo's fully decentralized and distributed social networking application. Now is your opportunity to explore the prototype and give us feedback!

http://blog.synereo.com/2016/03/15/Synereo's-Minimum-Lovable-Product/

Dor, when do you expect the Synereo application to go live?

We're looking good on all developmental fronts. However, there's one unknown, which is our reliance on the Omni protocol for doing AMP transactions (and particularly micro-transactions). The Omni stack is a bit shaky and we're having a hard time with it, so it's hard to estimate progress. Once we have a good solution for this, it'll be much easier to provide a hard date.

That's good to hear.  I don't use Facebook or any other centralized social media, but I'm looking forward to using Synereo.  Are you going to use a stepping stone blockchain solution for AMPs to bridge the gap between the Omnilayer and the completion and rollout of Casper PoS?

That's precisely right.

OMNI will most likely be thrown in the trash in favor of an Ethereum token. I would assume you could lock tokens away in Ethereum smart contracts that can be accessed with the same private keys as the OMNI/bitcoin tokens.

They don't really know what they are doing yet. I would rather see them start their own/clone the Ethereum PoS Capser blockchain. Being an Ethereum token on the $ETH powered blockchain might mean users need $ETH to pay for transaction fees.

Since $AMP is requiring users to run their own Synereo node it probably wouldn't be any more trouble to include an Ethereum clone inside the package.

Using Ethereum will not work due to the GAS fee in ETH. The only way is to clone Ethereum (AMPereum) and use AMP's.

Not every user needs to setup a node.

Your Network. Your Rules.
This may help gain perspective on motivations for collaboration, how it benefits human rights, innovation, and free markets, while fighting inequality, monopolies, and other concentrations of power:

Quote
Building Decentralized Public Sphere Networks as Alternatives to Monopoly

It's interesting that at several points in the article, which I enjoyed, the word "social networks" appeared in the plural, yet only one company was named.  *This helps us to understand why many people in the developing countries see the word "internet", synonymous with "Facebook".*  They are being 'educated' that way.

There is, in this age, a better alternative than the model described here, where a centralized entity operates in the market with a monopoly, and extracts an unequal share of the wealth from it.  Today we have excellent decentralization tools, and can easily and cheaply create distributed networks that break this inequality.  These same networks can have their own blockchains, allowing for unprecedented automation, giving the entrepreneur a built-in team of executives, capable of executing contracts, paying suppliers and workers alike, and much more.  Middlemen are replaced with Apps.

These networks respect an individual's rights; privacy, ownership of data and content, even being able to operate in a truly democratic and sovereign attention economy, monetizing this scarce resource, and paying network members directly for it.  They also eliminate the need for banks to be involved in this process.

If Governments want to help people become self-sufficient, and contributors to their economies, they should import the experts and teachers needed, and initiate free scholarships for software developers, and contribute the output of these public schools to Open Source repositories, working on connecting to, maintaining, and improving these new networks.  See, for example hyperledger.org/ .

The snowball is already rolling: synereo.com, factom.org, ethereum.org, livelygig.com, maidsafe.net, magazine.backfeed.cc, and others, with a growing host of Apps being built in collaborative fashion onto this de facto super-structure.  Having governments installing all the public infrastructure and then turning over their information economy to a big monopoly from the West like Facebook is not in the public's best interest - anywhere.
