Like we have  previously informed, we have experienced an issue when creating our first telemetry system, namely, some features supposed to be optimized and improved. Therefore we catch up with Lilian Otel  - the head of APIZ  laboratory, to discuss the further scenario:

“It is well known that any mistake or unsuccessful testings occurred in the process of developing are the prerequisites of potential success. It is great that we have received the different results on the initial stage when we could fix it asap.

 Bee colony is a biological organism, but each particular hive is ruled by own characteristics, which should be considered apart. Moreover, the conditions on the apiaries varies fundamentally from each other. Therefore, when designing telemetry, it is crucial to take into account not only the impact of weather, but also the means of transportation, the installation of our system, the human influence and, of course, the safety of our bees. 

While thinking about the complex  solution that will completely meet all the requirements, we get an idea of how to create an upgraded version that will fix the previous issues. Moreover current solution has new possibilities like adding multiple sensors for more precise and detailed information.

Yesterday, September 19, 2022, the UK, and with it, the whole world, saw off Queen Elizabeth II on her last journey.

This sad news spread worldwide and even reached the royal bees in Buckingham Palace and Clarence House territory. Royal beekeeper John Chepetz told the Daily Mail that he also wrapped seven royal hives with black ribbons to signify mourning for the departed queen. After that, he quietly notified the bees that their mistress was no more.

The tradition of notifying royal bees of the death of a monarch has a long history. But why warn them? Since ancient times, bees have symbolized the beginning of life, the whole ecosystem, which is an integral part of our existence.

Unfortunately, humanity still often underestimates the almost sacred purpose of bees. However, these creatures themselves carry something much more than many dare to imagine.

We share not only with our successes but with our failures also. Unfortunately, the first design of Telemetry devise did not justify itself since the main signal processing module from the sensors were too fragile, and after only a few months, it deformed in the apiary. The design of the weight module also required changes. Our engineers have already started looking for solutions. We'll be sure to let you know as soon as it's found.

Telemetry as a phenomenon
The concept of Telemetry includes a whole set of various high-tech tools that allow you to capture the necessary data remotely and then transfer them to the operator. As a rule, Telemetry uses special sensors or communication devices with the object under study. Communication channels are divided into wireless (WiFi, GSM, LPWAN, etc.) and wired (xDSL, ISDN, etc.).
The scope of this high-precision complex is quite wide. Without Telemetry, it is quite difficult to imagine the oil industry, medicine, oil drilling, and agriculture. Living beings quite often become objects of research.

In our case, the introduction of Telemetry has become one of the key solutions to modernize obsolete hives, as well as increasing the efficiency of the entire beekeeping industry and minimizing human participation in the whole process. Thanks to this innovative solution, it is possible to reduce the number of workers and improve the lives of the bees. Thus, we got a unique opportunity to control the apiary and record all changes remotely.

We all know that beekeeping has been in a stagnation period  for about a century. But we decided to change this by introducing advanced revolutionary technologies that other areas of agriculture cannot do without today. Instead of wooden beehives, we have created our own beehive system made of sustainable material with a telemetry option.

All our tasks in the roadmap are of global importance. One of the most important tasks is to ensure full transparency of the entire path of honey production from the bee to the consumer. This can be done just by fixing analytical and statistical data in the beekeeper's electronic journal. And in the long term, after the output of the beekeeping industry to an industrial level, we strive to maximize the consumption of honey.
Being a pioneer is not always easy. And what sounds good in theory is not always justified in practice. Since the first design series was not as successful as expected, we will try to resolve this problem. We need to take a few more steps to improve our equipment. But, knowing how much work and effort it took to invest in this project, we, of course, do not intend to retreat. There is a team of highly qualified specialists who, by all means, will find an effective solution to this problem. And we are moving on, creating for the benefit of humanity.

As you may know, the car with the APIZ logo takes part in Formula 1 races. According to our car driver Jukka Honkavuori, we hasten to share a brief review of this captivating event.
The famous Monza (Italy) race track will host the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup final race on September 09-11, 2022. This is particularly significant for Jukka since he made his racing debut in the Supercup on this track. Last year, our driver managed to participate in these spectacular high-speed races. Therefore, the Supercup 2022 final  in Italy is especially promising and very welcome!
Before getting to the Supercup Grand Prix, the racers faced the Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium) track on August 26-28, Round 6, and already on September 02-04, the Zandvoort (Netherlands) Round 7 racetrack was waiting for them.
It’s worth mentioning that our bolide also participated in the Carrera Cup in August on the Lausitzring track (Germany). And there are still two more Carrera Cup weekends on Germany's Sachsenring and Hockenheimring tracks. Last year, Yukka had a chance to compete on the Sachsenring car track in the top five. In 2021, an unprecedented race between Yukka and Ayhancan Güven for 5th place took place on the legendary Hockenheimring track, resulting in our supercar taking the lead! Of course, this unique experience promotes confidence in our top-notch drivers.

What is common between APIZ and racing
In the high-speed race, drivers constantly hone their skills by repeatedly completing hundreds of laps. Racing is not only speed but honesty, commitment, and talent. While working on the APIZ project, we are making strides towards our goal, honing our skills and honestly telling the consumer about our product.

Speaking frankly, I am very pleased to receive these questions. That means that you have been deeply immersed in the project, analyzing and evaluating it from different angles. And this is really important to us! I am not sure whether a few months ago you were interested in the bees, hives, their lifecycle arrangement, and so on, and now, look, you are engaged in the process and your mind is full of mathematical algorithms!  During the initial stage when the project was conceived  I was often asked -  did you decide to just hype on the blockchain for PR  and make quick money? In fact, today this is quite a fair question since almost 99% of crypto projects are based on this motivation. Nevertheless, things are different here. Obviously, it is nonsense to say that you need a blockchain in order to create some kind of virtual coins, just saying that the project is based on just some apiary. This can be done just in an Excel file. However, we would suggest you look at the project from a global perspective. Our main goal is to tighten up the link between those two worlds - the real one - with the ground, sky, flowers, animals, people … and a virtual one. 
And here, our message to these two worlds is - Hey! You are just not aware of how much in common you have! You could start mutual interaction by benefiting a lot one from another. We are going to be the first who will use blockchain to bring maximum transparency to the entire production cycle in agriculture and animal husbandry.
You, as the consumer, will have a chance to get all the information about a honey jar you just picked up from the shelf in just a few minutes -  starting from the place the honey was collected (with an accuracy of about 1 m), the current status of the hive the honey was collected, and details on how long it took to bring this honey from faraway country directly to you. And much more, you will be aware of the quality of this particular product since all the quality certificates will be included there.
The entire data with a 100% guarantee of authenticity! Isn’t the blockchain created for it?
Following up on your question related to the hive price, there is nothing to do since the up-to-date cost of the hive together with all the frames and invested efforts worth this price. And that is right, there are 50.000 bees inside a hive. Maybe today the cost seems to you a bit overpriced, nevertheless, we suggest you follow our project evolvement, our enormous efforts we pave the way every day, and it could be that one day you will decide to become an owner of the virtual hive capable to bring the real profit.

The APIZ team has been closely related to professional auto races for several years now. It’s encouraging to note the victories of our co-founder Daniil Mosko. It’s worth mentioning that pro racing and adrenaline are both incompatible. A top race is a thoroughly detailed plan, great driving skills, a masterly ability to take a curve, and exceptional endurance at dizzying speed, which not everyone would be capable of.

Here are some of the achievements of our founders. At the end of 2018, Igor took the honorable 1st place in “Rotac Time Attack” in the Race category, and Daniil became a prize-winner, taking 3rd place in “Tuned”. In 2019, Igor won the “Race +” championship, and Daniil became the first in “Super Sport”.

Theses of the Roadmap

Any successful project starts with meticulous business plan writing. In our Roadmap (RM), we describe in detail all the tools and approaches that will help us achieve the desired result. That’s why we decided to split the RM into four 10-year projects, united by one global goal - to increase the single bee efficiency by 10 times.

Soberly assessing the current beekeeping system, we can confidently say that achieving the desired results is impossible. That’s why we’re engaged in implementing modern technologies in beekeeping to bring this field out of stagnation to a qualitatively new industrial level. So what exactly have we upgraded?

•   First, we created our hive systems from durable and eco-friendly polystyrene, increasing thermal insulation by 300% and significantly reducing bee mortality.
•   We replaced passenger cars with special trucks, thereby minimizing logistics costs by 15 times.
•   We have implemented telemetry - a remote control system for fixing bees' life cycle data, reducing labor costs.

We have identified tasks that will help us move towards our goal faster. It’s important to ensure complete transparency of honey production from when nectar is collected. You can earn the trust of the consumer only by providing all information. Blockchain, one of the most advanced achievements implemented in beekeeping, will be able to handle this task.

Consumer confidence, in turn, will generate a great demand for this healthful product, truly unique in its set of properties. So, we smoothly approached the second task - to bring honey to the masses as a sweetener. This is the most long-term task but equally important.

Following the trend of technological developments is good, but sometimes we have to be able to adjust whether it fits the concept we are running or not, it seems that you are too pushy to include blockchain in your business model. How will you make sure one bee = one token?
In addition, the cost to create a colony is too high. 1 colony = 50000 bees, 1 bee $0.01 USD means 1 colony worth $500 USD.
Then how the profits will be obtained for investors, if there is no need for your token in the market?

Have you ever wondered what is the most useful product available today? The answer is obvious, perhaps even closer than you think. It's honey! Besides a variety of healthful minerals and vitamins, it retains its beneficial features even after decades.

One of the most important goals of the APIZ project is to show how valuable and diverse this product of the most complex production technology is. We are working on introducing honey to the masses and accepting it as the number one product. We can safely say that today honey is underestimated. Based on the fact, the daily norm of honey is 50 grams per day, then the statistics implicitly say that today people consume only 2-3% of the minimum norm. So far, this is negligible. But this amazing product can satisfy all our needs.

We are fully aware of how this issue can be solved, and we consider the opportunity to increase honey consumption commonly by 15-20 times. Today, beekeeping is stagnant since no improvements have been conducted for more than 100 years. Therefore, this field is not yet ready for a skyrocketing increase in demand. There is a lot to be done before beekeeping scales up to the industrial level. Therefore, we’re considering finding the solution to this problem in the long run.

So, the most imposing long-term challenge is to gradually replace sugar with honey and equalize the prices of these two products. But it is the challenge that will be able to provide a boost to solving fundamental humankind problems: cardiovascular diseases and obesity. Further, we describe the economic and technical model of the solution in detail.

Our roadmap

Our whole project is based on a ten-year development plan. By upgrading the beekeeping industry and using our unique approach, which has incorporated all the cutting-edge achievements of bright minds, we’re going to bring beekeeping to a whole new industrial stage of production with 1,000,000 hives.

And here are steps we have taken to increase beekeeping efficiency. We have developed our beehive systems made of polystyrene, which has a high level of thermal insulation. We also used the telemetry feature, equipping the hives with special sensors for remote high-accurate data transmission. But that's not all! Our project is the first and only one that embodies the idea of bee tokenization. Based on the average number of bees in one hive, equal to 50 000, we will release 50 000 000 000 unique crypto coins.

Today, the cost of a single bee equals $0.01, and the profit reaches $0.017. These are the key figures on which we started building the whole project's economy model. After all, these figures indicate a profitable business. However, due to introducing innovative solutions in beekeeping, we reached $0.025 per bee per year. And this is only the beginning. In 10 years, we will end up with a result of 0.15 dollars, according to our economic forecasts. This motivates us to move forward, step by step, implementing all the tasks.

All our tasks are closely linked and are united by one great goal - to do something good and rid the world of the irreversible effects caused by dangerous diseases that take away health and life. Nature has blessed us with so many gifts, and you just must make some effort to benefit from this.

Firstly, we strive to provide full transparency of the honey production cycle at all stages, with no exception, from the nectar collection till the jar of honey is on the store shelves.

This can be done by implementation of modern science achievements, to be more precise, the blockchain system. This system is a unique data storage of climatic characteristics, geographic location, volumes, production stages, quality control, and consumption statistics. By providing all this information to the final consumer, we’ll nip the problem of a manufacturer's credibility in the bud. After all, you must agree when you take a jar of honey from the shelf in the store, with a QR code with detailed information about the production on it, you’ll most likely give preference to this particular manufacturer. This is quite natural since far from all manufacturers being entirely honest with their customers in today’s realities. Therefore, earning the trust of our clients is a high priority for us.

Only if the first task is completed, we’ll be able to move on to the second, which includes the expanding mass consumption of honey and quitting sugar in favor of honey in the long term. It has long been known that honey is rich in minerals and vitamins and therefore has a high value for the body, unlike sugar, which we consume in excess since there is almost no product without added sugar today.

If honey becomes the number one product, replacing sugar, their price tag should equalize. While this is the longest-term challenge, by solving it, we can make a modest contribution to the health care system. By consuming honey, people will be less prone to cardiovascular disease and obesity.

August 4, 2022 - The APIZ project has created its first telemetry-enabled hive model designed to improve the productivity and efficiency of beehives and industrial apiaries.

Hive telemetry is a system that allows keeping tracking of all the data related to bee lifecycle and activity without examining every frame since ii is stressful for everyone involved - bees and keeper as well. The telemetry system receives the entire data on bee's health and productivity, the environmental impact, and feedback on any particular modifications.

For example, changes in a hive weight could indicate one of the following problems:

-   the beginning or the end of the nectar harvesting season
-   the honey extensions are full
-   you need to start feeding bees with syrup to get them through to the spring,
-   swarming or robbing occurs
-   decreased activity in colony strength and productivity.

Also, it is very important to keep a certain temperature and humidity in a hive for the strong brood and appropriate adult bees' behavioral patterns.

Healthy bee colonies maintain a stable environment in the hive. Monitoring and continuous analysis of any changes will help not only increase the productivity of bee colonies but also their viability, due to the creation of the most comfortable living conditions.

The APIZ team began researching hive telemetry a few months ago and has already been able to transform their knowledge into custom devices. At the present moment, the team has created a device for measuring such features as weight, temperature, humidity, and sound, with the option to send the collected data to a remote server for further processing and analysis.

We developed our first telemetry model based on an ordinary wooden beehive, under which we placed our device. The first scale design is presented as a stand with weight sensors and all the necessary electronics installed between the hive body and the bottom.

Now, these test devices are collecting and sending data for processing and analysis. Our long-term goal is to modify and improve hive telemetry devices gradually to get the most accurate results and data on the state of bee colonies, preventing any problems inside the hives.

Still, there is a lot of work to do, but a start has already been made. Follow our updates to keep abreast of all events and future developments.

24 July 2022 - The APIZ Project has participated in the 5th race of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup. The Project became a partner of the Supercup racing team with APIZ logo onboard a racing car Porsche GT3 Cup (engine power 510 hp).

The 5th race of Porsche Supercup 2022 took place during the 22-24 July weekend, as a part of the Formula 1 sprint. For the first time in Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup history, the race was held at Le Castellet in Provence, near Marseille, on the occasion of the 2022 Formula 1 French Grand Prix.

The host track is the famous Paul Ricard Circuit, 5,842 km long. Here the history started when Formula 1 Grand Prix was firstly hosted in 1971. A combination of several features such as 15 high, medium, and low-speed corners made it popular among racing teams. Since February 2001, its official name is Paul Ricard's High Tech Test Track.
