Say what you like about the coin development, but at least a lot of effort went into creating the look of the http://ultracoin.net/ website and the text within it etc.

Promotion is all important.  If the devs weren't trying their absolute best, and devoting 8-10 hours per day to promote this coin, then you could have ended up with a lightly edited, off-the-shelf website like the one at http://continuumcoin.com/.  It's good to see the IPO cash was put to good use, and not just spent on beer.  Well done guys.  Grin

hello guys.. i have a problem i mining utc coin and in ultracoin mining the avg is 560 kh/s but in my pool the hashrate is 50 why? this is happend then yesterday ... can give me some adviced? thx

Hardware errors. Lower intensity or increase thread concurrency until they go away. If you're using 7970/280x and -I 13 simply moving to -I 12 will do the trick.
thank you it`s works i used 280x.. and the last question ... yesterday when i mined i have the avg 1100kh/s with 2x 280x and today i have avg 550-560? why is again a hardware errors? if is can said what to change.. thx alought

99% of my job is invisible work

Appreciated, but I think you can imagine that the miners (to give one example) feel a little neglected when nobody from the dev team gives some sort of advance warning that we're about to go up an n-factor. This left many rigs producing virtually nothing but HW errors for as long as it took their operators to notice (some where asleep, some not)

It just gives a feeling that no-one's really on the ball here. That feeling might not be justified in reality, but it just looked how it looked.

-snip-

I'm actually a little surprised;  at how you perceived those pages.  If we were to exclude and simplify many of those posts to one word;  it would be "Help".  The community is asking for help.

We can look at it like this:

All of us in the community (together) are like a boxer in a ring;  We all represent 1 single boxer.  We are getting beat up during "rounds" (days) in the ring.  You, bumface are the corner-man.  You are correct with saying "..Nobody is stopping you.." and "I you want more results------> do more"; because ultimately, we are the boxers doing the fight.  All anyone is asking for is some support from the "corner-man" in between rounds.  The boxer has to win the fight ultimately, sure, but it's the corner-man's job to keep him fighting correctly and a positive mindset to win.

I think that is more what the community was asking.  I don't think there was intention to insult.  Just the boxer saying "I'm gettin' killed out here boss.  How to I get inside and beat the opponent?"

Aside from the above:

I totally agree there was the "perfect storm" of FUD and BTC issues that have hampered things.  I also agree 17 days is early.  I have no doubts that you are working behind the scenes and have things being planned, so I have no worries there.  In general I agree with a lot of what you said overall.

It seems like many in the last 2 pages are already becoming an "individually pro active community"  and that's great "news" in itself.  I'm overjoyed to be seeing this response.

Finally, this statement you said:

"Crypto is rapidly becoming a self imploding system, where hype is more important then content.UTC is intended a counterpart for this troublesome development. If i wanted to i could make a coin with 99% fluff and 1% content and perhaps it would grow faster then UTC.....doesnt this worry you for the future?"

+1000.  I am 100% on board with that statement!  I don't see any of these coins out now with "long-term" potential;  save for UTC.  Cotton candy is a lot of fluff;  darn stuff dissolves into nothing once you put it in your mouth.  Once all these fluff coins "dissolve in the mouths of those who ate coins";  people will be able to see that, like rock candy, UTC lasts longer ;P

Keep up the good work.

The # of miners is irrelevant. The same amount of coins get mined whether there's 1 guy on it at diff >= 0 or 1 million people at diff 1500.

yes but the miner's that will come because its top on profitable coin are the dumpers

If you notice not as much has been dumped the price dropped because the buy support was like 0

price goes up profit miners comeback mine and dump until the buy support is back to 0

and if i didnt have 2 lots of BTC now been held by CT i would be buying right now

Can i ask you guy's for som advice about my wallet ?

- I bought some UTC
- send them to my wallet on my computer
- made a copy of the wallet .dat file to a memery stick

Now the worst case scenario happend yesterday. My computer crasht.

Please advice me about steps to make recover my coins, is the following procedure right ?

- i download a new wallet from internet on a new computer

And which steps i have to make from here ??

Thank you infron for helping me with advice

After your intallation of UTC wallet (assuming you have win7/vista) you'd find your current installed wallet file in

C:\Users\YourUserNameHere\AppData\Roaming\Ultracoin

with the name wallet.dat.

Replace that file with your backup. Be sure that, the soon to be replaced wallet file has no UTC in it  Wink

Hope it helps,

Still not sure the first POS UTC take 20 days or whole year to be mined.

I will know the answer after few days.

someone wrote me a big detailed answer on POS you want em to paste it here?

Yes, specially UTC-POS would be interesting.

This is what Prot sent me

"hey,
there are a couple more items I can explain with POS.  These haven't been discussed yet, as it could cause a lot of unnecessary posting.  Since you've gotten all setup, you may as well know them.

1.  in order to "mint" stake coins, your wallet must be unlocked and have coins (not moved) over a certain age.  We don't know the exact ratio used for UTC yet, but I'm sure we will find out as it becomes long enough to matter.   With the comment of coins in your wallet for 1 year, we can assume it's probably similar to other POS coins.   This would mean your coins would be eligible to be "staked" for POS minting when they are "1 coin years old".  In several POS coins;  these coins must not be moved for at least 30 days to start counting toward, coin years for staking.
So, any coins over 30 days (not moved) will begin to accrue.  1 coin held for 1 year then would equal "1 coin year".  12 coins held for 1 year would equal 12 coin years.  As well,  12 coins held for 30 days would equal 1 coin year.  120 coins held for 1 month would equal 12 coin years; etc.  Again, remember there is a minimum time to count, probably 30 days.

The above should help to understand the value of "staking" or holding coins.

2.  When you are in the console (command window),  like you did to unlock the wallet;  Type:  getinfo

You will see several lines, current block, hashrate etc.   There are 2 lines that are concerned with POS and interest.   "Stake" and "minted"
The "stake" line, shows how many coins you have in your wallet that are old enough to count towards stake minting (30 day min guess).
The "minted" line, shows how many coins you have minted with your stake coins.

Right now, since the coin is young;  you should see 0.00000 for both stake and minted.   Once the coins are old enough in the wallet; you will start to show a "stake" number of coins.  These will determine the amount of interest / chance you get to mint stake coins.

So, when coins are too young to be staked;  you don't need to have the wallet unlocked for minting.   you only need to unlock when you have a "stake" balance.  The stake balance "should" show up even without the wallet unlocked.  This will let you know that you can mint coins.  If, after a month or so, you don't see stake coins;  then you can unlock temporarily to see if your coins then show as staked.

Note:  if you Stake coins for interest, you cannot spend them for a minimum amount of blocks after.  Usually this is 520 blocks ( appx 4.3 hrs with UTC).

For now then, you don't need your wallet unlocked and you should know how to check if your ready.   This hasn't been discussed yet and I can understand why.  If you mention these extra aspects now (a few days from launch), everyone will flood the thread with;  "why do I not have stake coins yet?"  or "I'm not getting interest, why?"  etc.

I'm positive that when UTC is old enough for people to stake coins;  then we will see this further description of process.  I'm sure the devs will also give more details on the specifics for age and coin year requirement too.

For now this should help you though.
Thanks, Prot"

I normally reinstall the client app, open it once, close it and then replace the wallet.dat file created with one from backup
