@Hhampuz so sorry to hear of the NWTM bankruptcy hope it has minimal affect for you. Kialara also used NWTM but I think he got the Moon series finished before the troubles.

Gentle bump...any update?

I'm guessing no news is....no news.

Thanks,
Dave

Sorry for the lack of updates.. here's the latest though:

NWTM has officially gone bankrupt, the entire workforce was let go except for one or two guys. One of the guy that was let go (Marty) was the guy I've been emailing without getting any replies.

I got some emails for the owner and Trustee yesterday and have sent out emails to them today, looking for any update. It is looking bad right now though. Unless this gets resolved within the next couple of weeks I'll have to start issuing refunds to those who paid up-front. Besides that there's not much I can do, in the end I'll be the loser in this one and there'll be some missing numbers from the first release.

That sucks bad for you hhamp, nothing you can do i guess.  Especially with the nbers missing, i got one and glad i did these are beautiful coins.  Any ideas on new mints or you arent that far yet?  Probably going to do a silver project this year so im gonna be poking around for some mints will let you know what i find

Appreciate the transparency Hhampuz and it's very sad to hear they folded.  I wouldn't expect much to come out of it but I'm glad to see you're putting forward the effort for your customers.

I'm wondering when/if they'll actually put a notice onto their sales sites or if they're still accepting orders that could have future issues.

Probably taking this way off topic, but how many mints are there that do this? If you can pick from 100 different ones then you as a customer have a bit more leverage then if there are only 5.

Yeah I was in contact with probably half of the mints on that list before deciding on NWTM, almost half of those mints did not accept new projects though, or could not offer low mintage custom runs.. So there's not that many it seems.

You had an error rate of 25% while Kialara reported 22% of the Moon coins had errors and had to be done over by the same mint. Sorry for your problems making collector coins seems to be fraught with stress. Appreciate your efforts to help the community and hope you are making enough from the venture to make it all worthwhile. Thanks again!

I'm very new to coinmaking so I'm not sure if that is an acceptable rate but to me it is way too high haha.. It's all good though, currently in talks with several other mints and will shortly start production of the 2nd design. Trying not to get it out before all the previous customers have received their coins though..

Thanks for the kind words! Smiley

That is very high.  You werent asking for proof coins and at a high volume, there should be no more than a couple unacceptable coins from a mint like that.  Sorry you had to go through this trouble but i guess better to find out mow than later. Maybe a thread where some makers here that have publicly stated their mint can state their experience to either feed others info or discourage people from using a mint like this.

All of the Dignitas coins and bars were done by NWT and with the exception of a few spot of hand painted gold, were near flawless.  I'm sorry to hear you had problems.   Please let me know if they correctly rectify the situation otherwise I will have to find a new mint for future designs.

With all the mints out there i wouldnt risk it.  Last 2 we know if (kialara and hhampuz) both runs were less than satisfactory on many coins.  No response from customer service after you give them business and they have your coins that were bad is completely unacceptable and would not recommend anyone move forward with them in the future

Did a quick search and NWTM got an F from the BBB. Most of the complaints were for delays or nondelivery of large silver bullion purchases not coins. There are probably only a few manufacturers in the low volume collector coin industry to choose from. NWTM did do right by Kialara according to the Kialara blog. Bugging customer service every day, or asking for the dies might make the problem worse. You want the company to believe you will be a repeat customer.

I've not been bugging them at all, I sent one email which Marty replied to (After I was told we would receive the coins within 2 weeks of sending them in). He replied and told me that their Trustee had suspended all of their operations while they were awaiting funding from the new owner and that he'd have no more information for me until next week. This was now 3 weeks ago and I am yet to receive the email from him with the updated information.

I only recently sent the email asking for the dies, we had been talking for a long time about building up the brand with them but while they were very kind and fast in responding leading up to placing the order I have only been disappointed after we received the coins.

Note that no less than 38 out of the 150 coins we made had imperfections, that's a pretty big number and I would expect that when we are paying a small premium to use their mint they could at least do a decent quality control.

@Hhampuz I believe Kialara used NWTM for the 'To the Moon' series coins and also ran into some delays. I don't think they are singling you out on purpose.

I'm pretty sure this was the case.
NWTM have also been used by Lealana, Cryptolator and countless others. I'm sure they'll pull through and the coins will come out looking as fine as ever.
It may be worth emailing another contact/representative there to get an update Smiley

Mini-update:

As I was told the coins that were being remade would be ready a week ago I've been on NWTM's case about getting it done, to little avail.. A couple of days ago I received an email saying that their Trustee has suspended all operations while they are awaiting funding from their new owner.. This is alarming not only because we are waiting for the remakes but also because we wanted to go ahead with the 2nd design.

I'll let you all know what happens next week and if there are any updates, as they said they'd know more then. In the meanwhile we'll start looking for another mint to continue with in the future, there are limits to how much crap you can take Cheesy. Great coins from NWTM but there has been issues.

Dam that's not cool.  You should tell them you just want your irregular coins back so at least you can salvage something.  I know different people that use them I hope no one was in the middle of a project with them.  Hope it all works out

Yeah, I'll see what Marty (Sales rep) has to say next week, if there's no more update I'll ask for the coins back, hopefully they have not melted them down already..

And yeah I know a lot of people both here and other places use them and I definitely hope they are not in the middle of it either..

Any update on this? Did NWTM ever get back to you?
-Dave

As of now I have sent multiple emails to NWTM demanding an aswer, to receive my coins and to get the dies from these designs. So far I am yet to receive a single reply...

After this experience I am not sure I could ever recommend anyone to use NWTM for their coin release, I am currently looking in to other options for future releases and I apologize for the people that are still waiting for their coins.

I'll continue trying to reach out and will let you all know once I have any updates.
