I downloaded the BTC blockchain (2nd time now) and had it hang up trying to get bitcredit synced.
I shut the client down and restarted and now I cannot get past the splash screen.. Sad

I noticed there are two Bitcredit wallets. The primary wallet and the deposit wallet. I'm assuming we need to back up both and keep them paired up? The reason I ask is because backup wallet from the pull down menu only backs up the primary wallet.

Do you have any plans for marketing this coin?

Thank you for your input.

The short answer is that it is only the primary wallet (bitcredit_wallet.dat) that needs to be backed up. I would however recommend you to create a back up of both bitcredit_wallet.dat and deposit_wallet.dat, especially if you have encrypted bitcredit_wallet.dat. In that case some (used and disposed) keys will be stored in deposit_wallet.dat since new keys cannot be created in an encrypted wallet. If you haven't encrypted bitcredit_wallet.dat there is nothing in deposit_wallet.dat that is needed to back up.

The primary wallet is just what you describe, the primary wallet.

The deposit wallet is only a "working state" wallet. Deposits created from "Prepare miner deposits" view and shown in the "Prepared deposits" view are stored in the deposit wallet. The deposit transactions stored in the deposit wallet are only temporary and only used, included in the block, if:
a) The mining process finds a block and
b) Coinbase as deposit is disabled (it is not disabled by default) or
c) The coinbase reward is not enough to cover the deposit requirements for the block. This situation will occur in approximately four months

A more detailed explanation about how manual creation of deposits work will be written soon since users need to start including manually created deposits in a about four months.

Regarding marketing - yes, marketing is much needed. If you have any thoughts on good ways to do that you are quite welcome with input. As a starter, within a week more detailed information of the inner working of the coin, with regards to coin distribution, deposits and a complete description of the protocol will be published.

Where is source?

The source has not been released yet but will be in stages over the coming months when deemed suitable.

whe are download walet?

I don't quite understand the question, but the main wallet of Bitcredit is named bitcredit_wallet.dat and sits in the working directory. The one you should replace if you want to claim Bitcoins is named bitcoin_wallet.dat.

See instructions here for getting started http://bitcredit-currency.org/viewforum.php?f=18.

OK. So the BTC Blockchain transplant appears to have been a success!

What I did was use the BitcoinQT (newest) and then downloaded the bootstrap.dat and copied to the places you said.
Now I am waiting for the sync on the Bitcredit side.. But it says "No Block sources available"

Not sure what the heck to do at this point.. Been almost 2 days trying to get this damn thing to run. :/

*edit: Trying the -reindex command as mentioned above. Really hoping I can get in on this coin before difficulty goes up.

Well, that is very good to hear.

As long as the Bitcoin blockchain is doing inital sync or reindexing, no Bitcredit blockchain will be downloaded. That is the reason that the client is saying "No Block sources available", simply because they have not appeared yet.

A reindex will rebuild the whole of the Bitcoin blockchain and the Bitcredit blockchain. This process will take a few hours as well, but you are well on your way now.

Check the debug.log output, you can see what is happening more clearly there. There are some detailed explanations with regards to the log output under this topic:
http://bitcredit-currency.org/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=17

I am convinced that you will be up and running soon. Let's see if we can find some way to compensate you for your trouble if it continues.

ok. Had to run -reindex 3 damn times to get the GUI to pop up but it appears to be re-indexing the BTC blockchian. I'm getting excited.
It has certainly been a quest thus far to get this beast running.. Tons of bandwidth used and time spent.. But I think this coin has great potential.
I will update as they come. Gonna go out for coffee and let this client do its thing.

Lets hope it works this time!

Ok, you need to have some final patience, a reindex takes several hours, for Bitcoin as well as for Bitcredit. DO NOT invoke -reindex again unless you want to start the reindex process from the beginning again. Which I assume you do not want to do.

Yes it started working after about 1.5 days of syncing (bitcoin), I was able to start mining shortly after.

I had some issues with a memory leak or maybe just the client using alot of memory while syncing the BTC bockchain.

I just want to add, this is an interesting coin. I think I'll keep mining it with one of my computers.

Can you give an estimate to how many coins you are mining per hour///per day, and with what does it mine, CPU or GPU?
CPU I have Intel i5 4670 @ 3.60 GH/z
GPU I have Gigabyte Radeon HD 7970Ghz Edition @ 1.2 GHz

Not many people are mining right now so its the best time to get on this. If I had to estimate I would guess about 4000 - 5000 coins /day with your CPU at the current difficulty. Its wallet mining only so you can point your GPU to something else at the same time. Just make sure to leave a CPU thread for the GPU mining program.

You are probably estimating correct, just a note with regards to your comment. A difficulty adjustment will occur at block 4032 that probably will move the difficulty upwards.

Attempting a BTC Blockchain transplant into the Bitcredit client.. Hopefully this works.

I'll post back here with an update once things are done moving around. Smiley

As mentioned before, your best bets are either:

a) creating a bootstrap.dat file that you rename to bitcoin_bootstrap.dat and initialise Bitcredit with it the same way that you initialise from a bootstrap.dat in Bitcoin.

b) Taking an up to date Bitcoin working directory, rename it to Bitcredit, while keeping it in the same directory. Then remove everything except "blocks" and rename the directory to "bitcoin_blocks". Then start the client (assuming you start Bitcredit-Qt in Windows) with the -reindex parameter:
> Bitcredit-Qt.exe -reindex

If you go the b) route, make sure to keep a copy of the Bitcoin working directory so that you don't have to download it again if the initialisation fails.

Both of the methods above should work in theory. None of them have been tested extensively though so for the moment you are a bit on your own.

how to mine this?

You can find full instructions on the coin board:
http://bitcredit-currency.org/

More specifically, in the getting started section there are instructions on how to download and install, get the blockchains in sync and then start mining:
http://bitcredit-currency.org/viewforum.php?f=18
Install: http://bitcredit-currency.org/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=13
Verify that blockchain is in sync (takes approx 1.5 days, unless you bootstrap the process): http://bitcredit-currency.org/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=17
Start mining: http://bitcredit-currency.org/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=18

Will you be making it possible to claim coins without downloading the bitcoin blockchain?

For the moment, no, there are no way to make a claim unless the whole blockchain is downloaded. In time online sites will probably appear that can help you with such a process but for the moment, unfortunately no.
