Anonymity will become a common feature sooner or later for cryptocurrencies. For that reason Darkcoin's niche isn't viable.
BC market positioning is very different and I think way smarter.
Long term and mass adoption is the only thing that matters.
Also, this is what I've found on reddit few months ago.
"Darkcoin was launched when both Europe and the USA were asleep so that there would be as little competition at launch as possible. The coin was called xcoin back then. At launch the block reward was an insane 500 coins per block and new block every couple of seconds!!! It also launched with no windows wallet so you then eliminate another 80% of miners.
The result is exactly what happened. A MASSIVE premine of 10% of the total Darkcoins that will ever be in existence mined within HOURS by the very people who launched the coin. Then once those coins were minted, the block reward was changed to once every 2.5 minutes and also changed from 500 to closer to 20. Then to make the premine even worse, another change was made by the Dev to reduce the total coins made from 84million to 22 million.
If you love 10% premine coins then by all means. Just don't candy coat what happened here."
