What does it take to run a node?

Double click the qt's .exe. Shocked

  thanks for that hippie  Cheesy

prollem here tho is ppl do that and there is no one to connect to ...

but u're so right ... if 10 ppl did that every day we'd prob'ly be good

What does it take to run a node?

a static ip and a p00tr (with server grade security) on 24/7/365

question: is the dyndns service useable in leiu of a static ip?

I was once advised to use a block explorer as a node because there were no dedicated nodes for another coin. The block explorer address worked OK so a URL might be a way of doing it without a static IP.

@groggin

static ip is on the "Do List"
anyone can provide quotes

I've seen dozens of Cryptsy coins go nodeless so no need to panic ... things will be fixed TALK is a top300 coin no doubt ... but to get it right than quick for now.

that's great! i think you'll want to ask your isp about getting one if dyndns won't cut the mustard. do you run linux? not even microsoft uses windows os for their servers, lol

uugghh

I am willing to throw a few bucks at fixing this node problem.
PM me if you know a good solution.

Is IRC better than just buying a couple 'renta' nodes?

my wallet is offline atm, but i just noticed that the new litecoin wallet has this option:

                                                                                    addmultisigaddress <'["key","key"]'> [account]
i wonder if that's a go in our wallet?

i'll throw in 30 k when we're ready. multi-key seems like the wtg, but i think the wallet needs to be coded first. treasurer pro tem?

@groggin Thanks the nom (I nominate mprep) ... If we can figure some multikey/trust-agent solution even better.  Also best if the user can change the "development fund donation" address ... hard coding it in might be a problem.

-----------
Wouldn't a TALK built-in IRC been very handy when bitcointalk.org was down??

Is it possible to create option of multi-IRC channels ... we could list the top25 talk coin community IRC channels

i think we should think about starting a development bounty.

maybe?

then if we had a new coder he could code a special button in the wallet that donates a chosen percentage of stake rewards to the development fund. other coins that have done this already are HBN, ECC, and FLT.

 Cool
I'll start

for coder bounty
$25 worth of btc
5,000 BCC

Having a built in development fund donation option is a very good idea.

so what does the upgrade QT need?
1. built in development fund donation option (HBN, ECC)
2. IRC addnodes
3. IRC chat built in (cach)
4. TALK and BCC skins
5. latest stakes control (see JBS)
6. in wallet blockchain

I'll add 25,000 BCC for coder bounty
