Dear Bitinum community,

I hereby announce the takeover of Bitinum by Altcoin.Center.

What this means is that Altcoin.Center will:

- Provide upgraded wallets compiled against current non-vulnerable versions of the OpenSSL library. No new functionality will be added at this point; this is just an initial "emergency" update to eliminate the risks related to the buggy versions of OpenSSL.

- Initiate the search for a developer who is able and willing to take charge of technical development of BTN.

- Manage the strategical planning and overall coordination of the non-technical side of GANJA development, i.e. branding, partnership deals etc.

- Generally look after the coin doing our best to give it a long, stable and prosperous life.

For starters we have already added Bitinum to the Altcoin.Center addseed network. The network currently has four DDoS protected nodes; two in Europe, two in Northern America. More nodes are to be added shortly. The task of the nodes is to provide a permanent high availability block source for BTN as well as other coins "protected" by us.

The seed servers can be reached at the following addresses:

addnode=seeds.altcoin.center
addnode=seeds.altcoincenter.eu
addnode=seeds.altcoincenter.us

You're also warmly welcome to mine Bitinum at http://pool.altcoin.center - no registration required, just point your sha256 miner to:

stratum+tcp://pool.altcoin.center:3111 -u YourBitinumWalletAddress -p x

The pool is vardiff, has 1.1% fee and minimum payout threshold of 777 BTN. Payouts are processed once a minute.

More info will be made available soon!

Could you try running the wallet with IPv6 disabled just to make sure the problem doesn't have anything to do with it. It probably does not but it would be good to check it anyways. I.e. add onlynet=IPv4 to the configuration file or command line parameters.

I use only textual daemon in pool, not graphical.

Actually I have some users that are mining, so I will attend a window when I can stop daemon for the test.

It is 64 bit version (x86-64)

Ok, thanks!

All available details would be useful.

I'll be away for couple of hours but will check back on this immediately when I return.

running in Ubuntu 12.04.5

Is the distribution you're using 32 or 64 bit version?

In the pool the daemon was compiled with:

Code:
make -f makefile.unix USE_UPNP=-

running in Ubuntu 12.04.5

Ok, good.

Hi!

We cannot add BTN button because of following errors:
Code:
Segmentation fault (core dumped)

It occurs while running bitinumd compiled in static mode.

Thanks for reporting this!

Could you please provide me with the following extra info:

- Which operating system are you using, and if it's Linux, which distribution?

- When exactly does the core dump take place? Immediately when starting the daemon or when performing some specific action through the RPC interface?

- Are you using a "headless" (text mode only) client or is it the GUI version?

- If you're using Linux, is the wallet running in a chroot jail or in the normal user context?

The answers unavoidably contain security sensitive information so I suggest you should reply in a private message, or by e-mailing the information to [email protected]

We'll get this fixed ASAP. =)

Yours,

Jyri

My pool is still open to mine Bitinum from the beginning  Wink

Perfect! =)

The coin will be trade at askcoin.net within hours   Smiley

This is truly wonderful news! =)

It will be optimal to have community support to the code if original developer stop to work on it.

It very much seems like the original developer would no longer have any interest in the coin.

While I have been very busy setting up couple of new services and haven't thus been able to keep the discussion going here, both me personally and Altcoin.Center as an organization are ready and willing to provide support to Bitinum to keep the coin alive and well. This means that we will also provide an updated version of the wallets, linked against a secure version of the SSL library ASAP.

If anyone with developer backgrounds is willing to become the new Bitinum maintainer, we'll also be happy to support him/her in the effort.

Altcoin.Center's seed nodes provide a stable source for the Bitinum block chain. If anyone has trouble finding peers and getting synchronized ("no block source available"), just add these lines to bitinum.conf, restart your wallet and you should be in the game:

addnode=seeds.altcoin.center
addnode=seeds.altcoincenter.eu
addnode=seeds.altcoincenter.us

I've also pointed 333Mh/s to the network, hopefully something good comes from this coin. It wasn't even alive a year before it was abandoned.

Great, thanks for that! =)

I'm determined to keep Bitinum alive no matter what. For some mysterious reason I just like this coin, and I know there are many who have used significant amounts of hashing power to mine it.

I would be happy to support the original developer if he wants to continue with Bitinum - and if he doesn't then Altcoin.Center can adopt the coin. =)

Dear Bitinum community,

the Bitinum block chain was stopped briefly for about 6-12 hours; no-one was mining and there were very few reachable nodes online.

We've been watching the situation for some time and took action to prevent Bitinum from dying by doing some emergency hashing.

We also added Bitinum to our network of high availability addnode seed hosts.

If you have trouble getting synchronized (i.e. no block source available), just add these lines to your bitinum.conf and your wallet should be able to get online again:

       addnode=seeds.altcoin.center
       addnode=seeds.altcoincenter.eu
       addnode=seeds.altcoincenter.us

Since Bitinum is in danger of dying away, we are providing this service to the community free of charge until December the 31st.

The usual cost for the service would be 0.03 BTC per month.

If you wish to support us, you can donate by sending us any amount of BTC you feel comfortable with to the address 13ssQx54XbfXXYk4ukME3FWnvd8ozsz8AB.

All funds will be used to extend the addnode seed service for Bitinum at the rate of 0.03 BTC per month starting from January the 1st, 2015.

Yours,

Jyri
