Yes it is! It also allows the coin to be equally distributed so that you don't have only a hand full of people with the majority of the coins.

What does it take to make the the shares you hash with a high enough difficulty to become accepted?

What happened is that someone else solved the same block at almost the same time as you and their share was submit first. I know it sucks when that happens! I was mining another altcoin once and solved 5 blocks really fast and all 5 were rejected by the network, because someone else beat me to the punch.

So this has been my first ever chance to solo mine a coin. Last night i was mining with 309 kh/sec and everything was configured correctly. In the off chance that i did get a share that was above the solo mining difficulty, it would get rejected. I wish i took a screenshot..

Thanks everyone for staying with this. The launch last night was crazy and had multiple forks take place in the block chain, but now everything looks good and is running smoothly! I will be doing a new client release here soon with the new logo.

Does anyone have a Linux client compiled? If so can you email it to me at [email protected] so I can add it to the website for download.

Most coins are scrypt, not quark, and his diff. can't be compared.
Quarkcoin has about 2400 diff, so this one still looks low. It should be more valuable than QRK by number of coins released, but that is only 1 of the factors.
