it is fucked now if we don't fix the retarget. Blocks should be mined at 10 minutes a block on average. Right now it's getting to 90 mins and more.

proof here, just look at the blocktimes: http://catchain.info/chain/Catcoin
sorry, speculators dug you into this hole. wait it out.

everyone got into catcoin agreed on the protocol, retargets, block times, reward schedules, and total number of coins.  We all went through the information provided, and agreed this was the common protocol we would use.

now that there is money in catcoin, a small, but vocal minority want to change catcoin to benefit themselves financially, under the guise of 'we must fix the retarget'.  essentially, changing the rules everyone agreed on when they got into catcoin.

if everyone was so concerned about a fucked up retarget, we should have talked about that BEFORE the fucking coin was launched.

please note:  catcoin blocktimes are in the shitter because for a miner,THERE IS NO FUCKING POINT to mine a currency that is to be FORKED in a day!   your own self-fulfilling prophecy.

stop spreading the FUD please, mining catcoin should be profitable or their will be no miners and a dead catcoin!
And everyone will benefit from this change, not some Illuminati minority.

Nothing else will be changed except for block retargets, to allow mining become profitable and miners return to catcoin.

THE WAIT IS 90 minutes * 2016 = 181440 minutes / 60 = 3024 hours / 24 = 126 days.

Wait it out. LOL.

I wanted a more nuanced fork. But this will have to do.

i remember from the getgo, people felt the blocktime and difficulty targets created scarcity that drove the price of the coin up.  now we're saying it's the flaw in the currency?

everyone got into catcoin agreed on the protocol, retargets, block times, reward schedules, and total number of coins.  We all went through the information provided, and agreed this was the common protocol we would use.

please note:  catcoin blocktimes are in the shitter because for a miner,THERE IS NO FUCKING POINT to mine a currency that is to be FORKED in a day!   the catcoin community has created its own self-fulfilling prophecy.

In effect, discussions about changing the fundamental operation of catcoin currency has essentially brought a small, normal market dip to the precipice.  stating the catcoin is broken has also wrecked the market confidence for both speculators and miners.

. i mean half of you haven't had anything to say until maybe 2 days ago
and all this talk of market crash.
blah blah bullshit
it's a week old and $0.50 usd it saw $1.00usd it's first day in trade
there are 1000000+ coins plenty liquid
do any of you know how long it's taken bitcoin to touch any of that?
so anybody trying to speak on behalf of me for forking is talking out their ass
cause i think it's the wrong move.

The person you have quoted has no business being +1'd for anything he said. It's all bullshit speculation that doesn't actually mean anything.
+1 means i agree with him, you fuck.

I can show you mathmatically that this coin is fucked, as-is. who are you going to believe?
ok, show us mathematically that this coin is fucked.  please provide proofs.

ok, show us mathematically that this coin is fucked.  please provide proofs.

please start with a mathetmatical proof that catcoin is instrinsically worth 0.50usd-1.00usd on the first day of trade.  i'm sure we'd all fucking love to see the mathematical justification for that fairytale.

New specs are almost identical to current version, just reducing block time to 36 blocks from 2016 and lowering network diff to allow it to reset. THat's it. Code changes are coming for review.

Guys,
if forking saves the Cat, why not now but wait a day ??

The exact changes to the wallet need to be agreed upon, and the changes need to be coded, compiled, and uploaded. All this before the network hits the block that it will fork.

The changes are already agreed.

What are the new specs? The OP has not been updated.

36 blocks. reset diff to 16.

lets talk about the REAL reasons why we're forking: most people support this want to come out ahead financially when it does occur.  about 90% of the big picture talk is lip service.  people here were pissed that cat crashed, plain and simple.

when cat started picking up, everyone shut up.

supporting forking if you just want to recoup your losses on cat is just a lame manipulation of the currency.

@CatCoinForums,
please look - if you promoted Kuromans views instead of promoting your forum, we wouldn't be in this situation. (and it would have been better for your forum in the end)

The catcoin channel debated this way before that. The proper voters are the catcoin users not the entire world.

Anyways, I have been against the fork in the past. I am now for it. The developer has come to the catcoin chat and agreed to drop the retarget rate to 36.

I will help with any issues that might come up.

THERE WILL BE FORK. THERE MAY OR MAY NOT BE DANIEL DAY-LEWIS. PROBABLY NOT.

So, we're rewarding failure.  awesome

Well, finally then we know what's going to happen. Catcoin Fork is going ahead.

Good. A decision either way is better than all this uncertainty. I'm confident that forking will get the coin back on track.

KR105 Is online on the forums and talking to us on ##catcoin in IRC. These changes will be going live to address the diff. The pools and exchanges have been notified.

(1:53:55 PM) Maverickthenoob:  KR105, Do you agree with these changes, and will you support them and make them live? http://www.catcoins.org/catcoin-fork/
(1:55:37 PM) kr105: Yes I agree, otherwise I don't see how we can get 1ghs+ of hashing power back to us

He's having issues posting at the moment due to all the 502 errors we're experiencing, but he promised to update OP ASAP. Come in to IRC and ask him if you must.
