You should've learnt with Matthew...

1st: You announce the Magazine will be out in a month...
2nd: You collect yearly subscriptions money...
3rd: You keep giving excuses for the Magazine not being out yet
4th: You make a blog post excusing yourself and saying it was your fault for announcing it too soon, conveniently not mentioning the part where you collected money from people.
5th: ?? ?? ??
6th: Profit!

NOW, THIS IS HOW PROS DO IT!

EDIT: Forgot about something... Matthew also says that anyone interested in having better updates about the state of the magazine publishing should join that .co.uk bitcoin forum owned by Vladimir because he doesn't want to post them here, in the forum owned by the competition.
I suppose all bitcointalk.org is good for is to collect yearly subscriptions money and trolling, ain't that right, Matthew?

I give you props for letting people download a free pdf version of your magazine.

Good job. Not all about making money. Contributing =)

I'm surprised you zero-based the issues but not the volumes...  Why not Volume 0 Issue 0? (:

A fair question to be sure Smiley

Issue #0 is the "Zero ads" version, it is still part of the first Volume, but not quite the first issue since Issue #1 will contain ads. We chose not to solicit ads (or any form of sales) until after we demonstrated our ability to driver the product.

Ultimately, Issue #0 could become a collectable since the run will not be the same as the version with the ads and after Issue #0 we likely will not do any more "Zero ads" issues.

hmm

maybe add competitions to win BTC ? figure out private key to get btc ?

how much to advertise on magazine ?

Competitions and contests are always fun and will definitely be something we will be looking at for upcoming issues.

Advertising information is on the way.

Updates to the website are rolling out as the magazine does and information will be posted here as well as at the site.

Today is a busy day Wink

The puzzle pages were created more for gimmicky reasons at this point, but it's good to see that people are appreciating the humour. Although we did not necessarily think that people would take the Bitword puzzle too seriously, we did think that people may take a shot at finding the hidden words in the Hexfind puzzle  Wink

Like any regular publication, this one will evolve over time.

Thanks for all of the feedback so far.

More news to come.

I say the more magazines, the merrier.
+1

MNW - Can you post a link to the first e-zine from a year ago?  I'd love to see it.
I'll look it up.

Good start! Looking forward to more.

As far as feedback - I don't think anyone's going to do a crossword in binary or an ascii code word-find puzzle. But a real bitcoin-themed crossword/wordfind puzzle would have been a very cool extra.

Yeah, I got a good laugh out of the binary crossword, but I won't be completing it.  Also, more variation in the styling of text in your magazine could be nice. Black, white, and grey: it is very plain looking right now. Definitely room for improvement, but I say the more magazines, the merrier.

A response from you was inevitable and not really a major concern.
It sure is inevitable that I would be attracted to shoddy projects and push them to raise the bar. It's what I do. And why would it be a major concern unless you are hiding something? You're weird.

The current state of publishing is only the initial soft rollout online.
So in other words, it still isn't published, and you're just an electronic magazine at this point. There's nothing to be ashamed of from starting small, I just don't understand why you're trying to lie. Here you try to make it sound like you yourself aren't just an e-zine.

If there is another magazine (not eZine or "coming soon") about Bitcoin, I would like to know about it Smiley

By the way, you're not even the first e-zine. There was one a year ago and it actually sucked worse. I guess I should be glad the bar is rising at least.

I am not concerned with the checklist you are providing, we will proceed on our own merits.
And apparently proceed on your own reality as well. In our reality we call "lying" a deceptive business practice and it's typically frowned upon.

Announcing "Coineer - The Bitcoin Magazine", the World's First Bitcoin Magazine.

Coineer: This is what he is talking about. A bit surprised that you haven't seen it since the thread has been on the first page a lot over the past few months.
I am actually well aware of that particular site and the threads surrounding it, which was why I said if there was one that was not an eZine or "coming soon".

I enjoyed the article "Why Bitcoins Suck (And What To Do About It)". The writing was clear and to-the-point. The only suggestion for getting the public to use bitcoins was to discount products, which is a good idea, but remember merchants save money by accepting bitcoin. They can pass those savings onto the consumer since they don't have to pay credit card fees. I just thought that was an important aspect of bitcoin that wasn't mentioned.

When I first heard of bitcoin I figured merchants had the most incentive to drive the use bitcoins (Memory Dealers) because of lower fees (Bit-Pay), and I still do. Many merchants are accepting bitcoin for that reason. Adding more payment options doesn't hurt.

Thanks for the comments and I'm glad you enjoyed the read Smiley

The lower fees option is a nice incentive but we wanted to encourage acquiring new customers with the potential for additional margin through direct sales. The elimination of transaction fees is still a great selling point, but the point of this article was to emphasize other ways of leveraging the strengths of Bitcoin and pulling in new customers.
