Dear Community: we have to report an incident to you. This morning one of our team members computer had a hard-drive failure, and as a consequence many files were lost including one of our COMM coin depot wallet, with approximately 196.8 mil COMMs in it. Despite all efforts we are not able to recover the wallet, and unfortunately no backup was made for this wallet (while we made backups for other wallets, this one was somehow missed as it was created later than others).

This is the wallet:
http://www.coinexplorers.com/address/CKGK6MFmBkreG7k5sU8gDEJNVJ57QZtN3H

We are sorry about this incident, and we want to sincerely apologize to the community. Since the wallet (private key) was erased, it is like this amount of coins was never mined. So total available coins will be 800 mils instead of 1000 mils for COMM. This is a good thing in a sense, that it will enhance our existing coin value. We publish the wallet so that everyone can see that this amount (196780608.602771 COMMs) will be dead in that wallet, that no one has access to them. These coins will never be circulated in the market.

I think buosni gave a normal feedback to it. Frozen the trade and wait all problems solved. That's help.

No you are wrong.

From the troll box:
cooldude: MOD SQUAD ALERT: COMM was auto-frozen; we are investigating immediately.

Can anyone tell me why the dev is talking about ways to keep the coins off the market if they were lost on a failed hard drive like he said?

They probably want to put people's minds at ease.

The following theory may not be correct or even possible, but what the heck... here it is anway:

Someone *could* possibly figure out what the wallet address was and "recover" it for themselves or insert false transactions into the blockchain... and no clients will be able to contest those false transactions because... the original client that was linked to that wallet no longer is (because the hard drive crashed)

I have not received my COMM, although adequate all the requirements to be accepted into the community. Are these 500 people who received their coins, better than me? What? Very sorry. This is very unfair

It's unfrozen.
Why is everyone so nervous?
You should drink less coffee. All of you Cheesy

People have probably been burned one too many times... so they tend to get edgy.
And there's money involved here... which makes people more edgy.

Managed to register 3 stakes with some throwaway btct accounts with history dating back few years Grin
I got this idea after 1 of mine other accounts was hacked, password changed and acc used to claim a COMM stake and promote/pump comm.
Free money!, can't complain -- on the way to exchange now.

This asshole is even NOT on the stakeholder list. just troll but nothing.

Did you by any chance mean to say "isn't" instead of is?

yup, "not" is missed. Corrected it.

Might be a 51% attack like what happened to another similarly distributed coin like C2 last week.

Not a big problem for a 100% PoS coin.  C2 is a pure PoW coin.

Na, should be something else.
I'm pretty sure the exchange has no problem with stolen coins. Never heard anything like that. It's money through transactions after all.

nah but before some days ago they froze APH because the dev was dumping on multiple exchanges

Could be... they had to help sort out the mess when FAC forked... so perhaps they are airing on the side of caution.
