+10tb as of now, but I'm still plotting. I have a decent NAS with some more space.
The problem is it's so slow to plott with cpu's. I read someone is working on an gpu version, but that will ofc be amd.
Honestly that looks like an interesting coin, but would you be able to do it across multiple drives? i.e. not RAID drives
And is it seriously that slow on the cpu? i mean how long did it take you to fill 10TB of storage that you have to leave alone lmao
just think of the money you have in storage that you cant use
I think my first plot is from August 26, so a bit more than a week. But I didn't know what I was doing then (well, I still don't I discovered today
). Concerning money, I had all the hdd I'm using, they were unused (although I had plans for them).
It's still quite profitable. I'll probably also use my NAS for it, but fill +30tb by cpu will make me crazy.
i wonder what's the long term effect on hardware life span when running hard disk and CPU for mining. Hard disk got a life span of xxxxx write. How long can a hard disk last doing mining ?
Well, the hdd's aren't used much in terms of writing/reading. You fill them with plots only once, and then the miner read the plots for every block. The cpu's are pressed rather hard when creating plots though, but not much at all during mining.
I'll keep doing it for awhile. Compared to gpu mining, the electric cost is nothing.
