When DAO.Casino doesn´t provide a gambling platform, but the protocol for ethereum-based gambling games,
what is the function of the BET token?

Still many of the countries not accepted bitcoin or any altcoins as legal in their country. like that you can consider and play gambling as well. You speaks about investment part on blockchain technology that is why DAO team also implemented etherum based gambling site. Please read op knows the pros of the this site. Good luck for the team.

I checked the white paper and the appendix, and I don’t see anything about the number of tokens that are going to be created, but the price of the BET token will change as time advances in the crowdsale, also there seems to be a cap at 15 million dollars to the contribution.

Just got email about pre sale, $50,000 buy in, max 50% of tokens, still does not say total supply though....

Definitely ETH is fantastic platform for this kind of tokens, with endless possibilities and good support. Maybe i would be much more thrilled if this is on ETC but developers have their reasons. ETH is much more valuable and it is very popular, i guess this was the main reason.
