This isn't really a problem, some improvements will be made to Ethereum blockchain to solve this issue. Whatever competitors say, Eth ecosystem for DApps is a good option - smart contract support, established audience, some products that already start gaining traction.
We are almost certain it will work out fine.

Ethereum Classic - are there any DApps on it already that are popular ?

You can also turn that statement upside down: any strengths of Ethereum will also become the strengths of Dao.Casino and I am sure that over the years Ethereum will have a lot to offer.
