It was a rainy Sunday noon, I was planning to go out for a walk for some fresh air and meet some friends, but I couldn't anymore — so I decided to just stay indoors, and sit down, open my laptop and see what’s happening in the online world.

Being a technology enthusiast, I’m always looking for the next cool technology that could change the world and the way we live our day-to-day lives.

As I’m browsing the web, I found this website. It looks unique and interesting, on the top of the page, it reads: Welcome to the deep, a free world, a new democratic economy based on a decentralized Dpos structure — built to last forever!
What caught my attention the most was the last few words: built to last forever!

But before we get into that, let me first explain what was the website about. It was a virtual world project based on the block-chain technology that is part game and part social platform.

But that wasn’t all. Unlike other virtual world projects, the deep is powered by the block-chain technology, meaning it will be made eternal. In other words, everything that happens on the deep, will remain there forever!

And this perfectly explains the above phrase: built to last forever. It sounds crazy, I know. But if you really think about it, it’s extremely similar to the physical world. The physical world is also built to last forever. Which brings me to my last point…

Is the deep really just like real life?
First of all, if you’re a fan of virtual reality or gaming, you probably already know that the infamous game Second Life was awkwardly similar to real life. People we’re able to customize their virtual avatar to look exactly like their real-life looks, meet people, go shopping, buy good and services on the game, and just about everything that you could do in real life.

The deep is similar to that and more. It’s important to realize that the rapid advancement of technology has given us the ability to build ‘’real-life like’’ virtual worlds where everyone can participate, chat with other users, and have a place they can call: a second life!

Thanks to the block-chain, the deep is decentralized, which means there’s no central authority that can sensor or control your activities on the deep. And for the first time ever, we can have a virtual world that can build upon previous experiences.
