Just a few days without DO and so many posts with new information, ideas, pictures (nice new logo proposal btw), seems that reading on a daily basis will be necessary in order to be able to follow. Now I have some backlog with sharing of my ideas as it takes some time to write my post, because I am not a 1-liner guy. I have an opposite problem with length of my posts, sorry for this
As I do not have any advanced IT skills, I appreciate also the "economic" part of the discussion here.
I think there should be a new rule that allows Jr. Members and whoever else wants to join. In order to join, they have to buy 500-1000 onion and hold in their wallet for 1 week before applying. This way it shows that Jr members are serious and not simply fake accounts.
The problem is not all people who wants to join in the airdrop has the money to buy that much or if they have, are they willing to buy?
I think it will make a new way to dump onion, people will simply buy some Jr. Member accounts then buy 1000 onions (can be used for many accounts) and after being accepted on the airdrop and receive the airdrop they will sell it directly and apply again with other Jr. Member accounts with the 1000 onions they bought for the first account.
This is quite complex and sensitive topic in my opinion. I can imagine that an obligation to buy a specific amount of Onions would make sense in some way as such investors would become more involved in a future development of the coin, but 500-1000 Onions would be too much for many people. Moreover, there might be an ethical problem with buying of a membership in an airdrop community. As far as I know, the main principal is that these airdrops should be well deserved and just for true believers and supporters, which is something that cannot be bought.
I also think it would not be a good idea to allow "whoever else" to participate in airdrops. It would be too dangerous because of scammers creating many duplicate accounts etc. They would just come for free money without any interest/knowledge about the coin. This is visible even now from many of posts sent by Newbies. There would also be a problem with signature - Newbies cannot have signatures here so the way how to promote the coin is more limited.
On the other hand, involvement of Jr. Members who will meet the strict airdrop criterias might be useful in the later phase as the community needs to grow. No reason to be too much scared of dumpers, they would disqualify themselves from future airdrops and they increase the amount of Onions available for trading. And I believe that the price would recover after each dump very quickly anyway (might be a good test of market demand for DO in combination with some good exchange). Also no need to be scared of sold/bought accounts too much, there is no big difference if someone tries to cheat using bought Jr. Member or higher ranked account, the principle is still the same and the Devs were successful in identification of these suspicious accounts thanks to their deep checks.
Nevertheless, it is obvious that each solution related to the unevitable need for growth of the community in the future will bring some risks, therefore it needs to be considered very carefully.
