Hi guys, I have a question to the dev. Is there a chance to create an email list to send a newsletter with the news and changes? That will help to the persons that can't be online all the day. That is not a problem for me because I'm checking all the messages here and in the official forum, but maybe it will help for those persons.

I'm holding and buying. If the dev team keep the work up, the community grows and we can get out of the 'new coin' slump where some kids dump their airdrop for pocket change we can get into the double digits.
I think it has great potential and hope to hard work of dev will bring good impact to the future of the project.

With every dip there is an opportunity for some to buy Onion cheap, 35% is hardly to be concerned about, this is crypto and these wild swings are normal. Bought me some more cheap Onion for the Hodl patch.  Grin

Volatility is the friend of the long term investor for several reasons.

1. If the price goes down, this means miners may not find the coin as profitable to mine, therefore they may leave and those of us that are PoS minting may earn higher returns.

2. Secondly, investors that are not presently in the airdrop have an opportunity to buy ONIONs at a lower price so they too can participate in the growth of the DeepOnion platform.

I would not be worried in the least about a 35% price drop. This happened many times to Bitcoin and it has come roaring back every time.

He just tryin to cause FUD. Well, it's nothing to us because we know our strength.
While being vigilant against attackers, we are also confident of our strength.

I'm just posting a few facts, more of a message about the biggest winner of the last few days and you all applaud that. Why do you receive the opposite news so reluctantly?

I saw this intriguing story on a guy who got free NEM when it was launched in 2014 and sold them then bought back at 20 times more price and be very happy, lol. Hope this will happen to ONION. I am not hyping here, just saw this and wanted to share with you. Use your own judgement on DeepOnion  Wink

I'm new as well but the way I understand it is: an air drop is free coin given out by the developers of a coin as a mean of releasing it too as many people as possible before it goes on an exchange or is released to the general public through mining or other means. They do this to spread awareness of the coin and their concept. It varies from coin to coin. Someone else may have a better answer.

That's a pretty good explanation. In some cases established coins may do an airdrop as well (such as the recent Byteball and Stellar airdrops) as part of their publicity campaign.

It's a nice bonus when you can get free coins if you have the patiences to HODL them. Here's an example:

When NEM (New Economy Movement) launched in 2014 I signed up for an initial distribution and got 10,000 free NEM. Being the short-sighted bloke that I am, I noticed that it was already trading on Poloniex and that I could get a whole 50 cents for them! Whee! So I promptly sold them and patted myself on the back for the free pocket change. I mean, with a weird name like that how could it ever catch on?

Fast-forward to 2016 and one day I noticed that NEM had clawed its way onto the Top 100 chart at Coinmarketcap. Hmm. My 10,000 NEM were now worth $10. Did I dare buy back in and hope for further gains, or would I just wind up wiping out that 50 cent profit by losing a couple bucks if it deflated? After studying it a little more, I bought my 10,000 NEM back.

Then late this spring I sold them again for over $2,000. So I missed on the rise from 50 cents to $10, but thankfully I got to ride the rest of the wave. Let that be a lesson in HODLING!

The story is inspiring. And what do we wish? We wish ONIONs will inspire more in the future.
The lesson is that we should HODL. It's for our own good for a better future.

Nice story you shared with us @fisheater

Like they say, Patience is a Virtue. Rewards are being reaped for those who wait. A lot had made those mistakes in Crypto world. Hold and wait for you not to regret.

Yes this is nice story. We need patience and need to help the community, in order to make the coin to have a great future.

I think that if you really care for this coin, from my point of view, you don't care that it went under a dollar. In fact you prefer it. Get the miners who are just mining it to dump it away, and have a steady rise, while keep those strong in the community in. Do you get my logic? The people who care should be the main ones here.

I'm not sure about you guys, but I'm happy that it has dipped. Allowed me to grab some cheap. Anyone bothered by the >$1 price point is, in my opinion, shortsighted.

From mining perceptive, the dipped price is a good news for long-term miners, like me Grin Cheesy Wink Smiley
When the price was around $2, lots of opportunists just jumped in, mined, and dumped the Onions immediately after mining...not good for the new born coin, and not good for me because i could only mine half comparing to before during the past several days  Undecided

Lol you got that right, I do hope these flyby night miners would go away cuz difficulty has really surged.

Check the post here: https://deeponion.org/community/threads/deeponion-tor-wallet-creating-conf-file.63/

you probably need some onion seeds in your conf file. Check post #2 of this thread, where there are details how to get fresh onion nodes and create conf file.

i don't understand why we looking for registration date when we making promo at other sites and even youtube videos. When new potential community member see that video or post at some news portal, hi is anyway cant partitate, because he haven't bitcointalk account and his reg date will be new and his rank will be newbie. looks weird for me. i think need to modyfy smth a little bit

It is a filter, a great wall. This wall is one way of preventing the cheaters to create new accounts. Greed drives these cheaters to want more. So this filter is a must to promote fairness within the community. So I'm sorry for those who have registered here in bitcointalk after July 12th this year, who are honest and who just found out about DeepOnions. You are affected by this filter because the devs have no choice but to build this wall to keep the cheaters from entering. One account is enough for one person with a member and above ranks in BCT.
