Personally I've made around 6000 ONION's, but I was in early before the last set of rule changes. Now the more you invest in DO the more reward you get. You will see around 6-7% reward per week on coins held, plus you will get a decent haul of coins if you are very active in the community. Come join, there is no reason not to!
That is more than 30% per month.
So the ONION amount will grow exponentially, will this suppress the price lower and lower?
There is a limited number of airdropped Onions for each airdrop round so the amount of Onions is not growing exponentially. Till round 30, each airdrop round (Friday and Sunday together) will distribute 250,000 Onions, rounds 31-39 will distribute 300,000 Onions and the last 40th round 350,000 Onions.
We hope that if anything will grow exponentially, it will be the future price of DO
But currently, we are fine with the steady growth which is more healthy at this still early phase of this wonderful project 
That's right, slower steady growth is much healthier and thus much better that fast pump, where usually as fast dump follows. I'd be much happier if DO grow slowly, but steadily. With steady growth more and more weak hands will sell continuously, so the distribution will become much more even and wide spread... no dramas.
