How to start using Dero                Downloads                Whitepaper                Support

About DERO

The Dero Project has written a unique new blockchain technology that is based on the CryptoNote protocol. Dero's goal is to create a unique state of the art blockchain technology with enhanced reliability, privacy, security, usability, and portability by bringing together some of the best proven technologies like the CryptoNote protocol and smart contracts, thereby allowing for the creation of truly private smart contracts.

The Dero development team has implemented complete SSL across the Dero network which is a first on any blockchain. This encrypts the entirety of our network traffic, which greatly reduces our attack surface, while simultaneously preventing ISPs or other users from analyzing Dero’s network traffic.

Dero's Key Features

  • DERO is a completely new and unique CryptoNote blockchain written in Golang
  • DERO is the first blockchain to have complete SSL in the P2P layer
  • DERO will be the first CryptoNote blockchain to have 500 transactions per second on its native blockchain without any lightning networks, validators or off-blockchain solutions
  • DERO will be first CryptoNote blockchain to have smart contracts on its native chain without any extra layers or secondary blockchains
  • CryptoNote privacy
  • Smart contracts
  • Atomic swaps
  • Mobile and offline wallets
  • Lightweight wallets
  • Shadow address
  • Escrow services on the blockchain
  • Address signing and certifying
  • Voting on a private blockchain

About The Developers

There are three developers working on the Dero Project who have been working the field of cryptography and blockchain development as a team for more than a decade. Dero's research and development team are devoted full time to the project, and can often be found in our Slack channel. For now, the development team are choosing to retain their privacy until the Dero Project incorporates.

Dero Specifications

  • Proof-of-work (PoW) algorithm: CryptoNight
  • Max supply: 18.4 million for the first 8 years followed by an infinite emission rate after year 8 of ~157,000 DERO/year
  • Block reward: Smoothly varying
  • Block time: 120 seconds
  • Difficulty: Retargets at every block
  • Ticker: DERO

Dero's Roadmap

  • Q1/2018 - Dero's new unique blockchain written and full Activation. - Completed ahead of schedule with the extra addition of complete SSL across Dero's network
  • Q2/2018 - Record CryptoNote TX/sec, GUI wallets, sub addresses, atomic swaps, and smart contract testing.
  • Q3/2018 - Smart contract support on chain. Q3 2018.
  • Q4/2018 - Strategic market expansion, team growth, and more (coming soon).

One last question despite it probably being a moot one: does the wallet have to remain open for the next 10 blocks for the balance to unlock, or do 10 more blocks merely have to be found? I ask because I only open my non-staking wallets once or twice per day to update balances then leave them closed the rest of the time and this morning when I tried Serena's suggestion the same split between locked and unlocked balance was present, despite that >100 blocks had been found since I last opened the wallet.

No. Wallets are not required to be kept opened for next 10 blocks or any number of blocks to receive/update your balance. That's all blockchain network part.

Gotcha, and I left you my last sendable merit for your previous answer. May you and I both make it to Full Member before the turn of the next decade!  Tongue

Agreed.  Lets see.  Smiley
BTW more glad to still have you.

I tried running derod-windows-amd64.exe. It ran well until block 59960 and now fails with:

Code:
Block verification failed  rejecting since TX verification failed   blid=d114638b05d78d8ea88eaf3c7468da1fd631f11d2548524204edf569be73a380 com=BLKCHAIN

That same message repeats over and over.

Did my db get corrupted? Should I start from scratch?

I now run the latest version of derod*(2018-04-14 12:41) and was running the very previous one in the beginning.

Digging your issue.

Re-builded the whole chain from scratch and found no problem. Can you pls try to rebuild again. Stop derod daemon and delete the mainnet folder and try again.

Green shows available balance which can be used now and  Yellow shows locked balance which will be available after next 10 blocks. Due to optimizations, a check was not working properly which was necessary to trigger the balance update function + color switch in User Interface.. This update function was not triggering so UI was not updating properly. Problem has been fixed and solved in next release due in next coming days.

What's the deal with the balance being split into two parts, some in green and some in yellow? I did not appear to get credit for my last mining payment so I rescanned the blockchain and the total balance was then correct, but around 1/3rd of my coins are green and 2/3rd are yellow (whereas before just the last payment of 2 DERO would be yellow). I vaguely recall seeing something about this earlier in the thread, but hell if I can find the post.

You can use the balance command to make it refresh

Huh, that worked... but next I have to ask why it worked, and what happened in the first place?

Meanwhile, thanks, as always, for your tireless efforts and help here!

I just saw your project. please tell me, will you conduct ico? if not, where can I get your tokens? and for what they will serve on your platform?

There will be no ICO. Dero isn't a token, is a project with a already running mainnet, with coins obtained from Proof of Work mining.

dero dev, bootstrap please I have slow connection to sync.

New code is faster to sync and haven't seen a single issue during syncing. P2P layer has been written from scratch to avoid network disconnects/dangling connections issues etc.
Download latest from http://seeds.dero.io/alpha/ and start derod* daemon. we do not recommend bootstrap chain database now.
Try syncing first and if you feel any sync issue, will arrange chain database.

its synced, it take 15 hours with my 20 mbps connection

Hello, I am checking the profit per processor AMD Ryzen 1600 and the most profitable currency is the DERO the HASH is 560 giving a profit of 15 dollars, the site is this

I've never used that site before, but I see that it has appended "Unreal" for the DERO estimate; quite right, as the official pool says you'll make about 1.16 DERO per day with 560 H/s.

Read the topic, the last few pages. so far there are no plans for this. developers do not see this as a problem.

I'm probably one of the few people here that have read this entire thread.
