Why did you choose sha-256

For one, we do not believe any specific algorithm is 100% safe or ideal, so some decisions were made around the goals & usage of the algo.
1. Most decentralization of miners.
2. We used LWMA for controlling chain stalls.
3. 30 block deep reorg protection as well.
4. There is a point to be made that ASIC mining from day 1 is more decentralized overall than GPU mining, especially since both result in large server farms usually in small coins, we wanted the most access to the most amount of miners and rental hash around the world for ease of access for our community.
We hope this helps shed some light on the decision making process, it's very easy to simply assume GPUs are superior but that is not always the case.

We would like to thank everyone for testing DeVault out on Testnet this past week and will keep Testnet live until further notice but as everything is working well and there is no reason to delay we thought it would be a good time to announce our launch date and time.
We'd like to invite everyone to join in on Tuesday, June 4th at 8am PST (11am EST / 4pm GMT) for the Genesis block of the DeVault blockchain and welcome all miners wishing to get involved.
Some quick FAQs we expect to answer:
- We are a Proof of Work (sha256d) based community coin. Meaning you would preferably use a sha256d ASIC miner. GPU mining will make it hard to find blocks.
- There is NO premine.
- This is and was NOT an ICO.
- There is a block reward of 55% for direct miner payouts. 45% to DAOs + Community Budget. See above for exact splits.
- Cold Staking is an additional inflationary mechanism where the inflation is based on the amount of holders. (More holders = more inflation)
- The codebase is based on Bitcoin-ABC implementation of Bitcoin.
- The team is made up of long time crypto users, there is no central authority or 'CEO'.
- This is a community governed 'digital cash' economy.
- Yes, we are looking for more talent.
