Yes, but the pool should be looking at the bid price before it decides to mine any particular coin.
True, but the trick is finding a high bid price. Dying coins usually won't have them. Bargain hunters might put in bids, but they won't be high.
Another issue is that because dying coins are thinly traded, there is some risk that the bid won't be there by the time the pool mines the coin, waits for it to mature, then transfers it to the exchange. That's particularly true if there is a professional trader who is familiar with the coin. They often already have coins that they bought cheap just so they can jump on opportunities.
