Then does a bunch of weird stuff and everything crawls, any way to lessen intensity? Thought I had set it lower but still no change

If it works then you can try some arguments
I've tried various intensities, but all to the same effect. Running a GTX750. Any other ideas?
same issue here. 280x
removed other arguments.. removing -u and -p the miner automatically closes....when you add the -u and -p credential. it hangs.
Just try and run it from command line.
It will ask you for information about pool, username, password, algo
Then you can ajust intensity while inside the program by pressing G
