Not a bad idea.  I don't know where you are progress wise with a GPU miner but it is an ASAP issue to make one public.  My comments are not intended to be negative just realistic.

Oh we definitely understand the importance of thise Smiley
Thank you realism is something missed with crypto at times.

As for sgminer... I should slap myself for not making this sooner, currently compiling tests on linux, so if everything goes right pretty soon it will be released.

As for ccminer, I hate cuda... that is all... (jk but it requires some more work)

any one here who can help me how to work with mining? I want to use my i5 laptop with 940 NVidia built in video card I don't know how it work and it is the first time that I will mine a alt coin, use to mine using nicehash for bitcoin.
Coin is very cheap. It is easier to buy. Have pity on your laptop. 0.00000007LTC Undecided

Well that's why we are working on one ourselves, it also really should be more integrated in with the client.
I'm personally debating on sending the btc so that others can mine asap while we continue the development but we'll see.
the other thing is there's no guaranty that it will actually work when delivered and is it for amd and nvidia? just one?

I would urge you not to pay a single sat for his gpu miner. Better spend that on actual coin development rather than ransom money.

So what if he mines for a few more days with GPU? If he had kept it secret he could have been mining for months with gpu and being a single miner noone would even notice

It wasn't hard to see that a private GPU miner was inevitable and was likely being used within days of launch.    Pay the guy the .25 btc for his work and move forward with other plans.  This is not a CPU only coin anymore and never will be.  If there isn't a public GPU miner this coin will die a slow death as those mining with the GPU will dump everything they mine and the others will stop mining altogether and lose interest in this coin.

And here is the miner:

https://github.com/ocminer/cpuminer-hmq1725

Use with:

./cpuminer -a quark -o stratum+tcp://esp.suprnova.cc:3451 -u suprnova.1 -p x

You can also solo-mine to your wallet.

And I want to be honest: The probability there is already a GPU miner is pretty high, I've checked the algos and there are already modules for Nvidia/AMD for them, so somebody just has to "rework" the quark algo in ccminer/sgminer, chain the correct modules and "voilla"...

Ya think?

New algo normally = private miner

Read back a few posts. There is a ccminer and sgminer fork being worked on currently.

Well dev say if cpu mining will take 3 years to reach por , now with gpu half that I guess , pls correct me if I'm wrong

Well no this won't shorten the time.
The reason for this is the Difficulty retarget every 10 blocks, once the chain has more hash on it it retargets to achieve the same rate of speed.
So it will still mineout in the same time.

Also we stated that Once PoR is released the PoW will still be active, this coin will be a hybrid until the PoW ends and mines out.

CC did mention that but, as we speak the gpu farmers are gearing up because they have seen this happen too often and once they get their hands on the software they are in a vile race to who gets there first, to be honest if the dev leaves the goals and road marks where they were to begin with then yes i would agree that por should be right around the corner shortly after the gpu farmers get done raping it "riding it hard and hanging it up wet" but if any wallet changes happen that could also change some of the timelines involved also

PoR is coming yes. However, we believe you would agree that deploying GPU miners is sadly currently the priority, then the max tx size limitation and finally we will move into email and PoR systems.

We are currently working on a ccminer and sgminer fork. Will have more news on this.

Great work guys!
