US citizens with 32 ETH or more staked will risk their funds and might go to prison if they run the official Ethereum staking software. This is because it will validate Tornado Cash transactions. (Money laundering)
sorry I'm not a US person but I will be happy if you provide a news link link that maybe I can read it here too or it's just fake news, maybe it's a good idea to provide a news link source link so that the news you convey is true

Academic Grants Round Grantee Announcement

This grants round invited researchers, think tanks, Ph.D. students, and all those interested in advancing knowledge around the Ethereum ecosystem to submit academic proposals.

Thank you to all those who submitted proposals, and congratulations to all the grantees. We are pleased with the number of quality applications we received, surpassing our initial expectations. Given the extraordinary potential of many project proposals, we have more than doubled the initial budget from $750,000 to $2 million.

It looks great, but It would look much greater if the academic institutions weren't so fiat driven and centrilized

I see gas costs are really cheap at the moment and haven't seen them touch gas costs for a long time, it's really close to 5 gwei even now it's only under 10 gwei, maybe people don't do a lot of transactions on the ETH network now so gas costs are very cheap, today it's very cheap happy to move lots of ETH tokens from old wallet to my new wallet

There's something I don't get about the difficulty bomb. does it start increasing difficulty for a period of time until that impossible point, or it's just a moment where it goes up? I think it must be increasing for a period depending on the mining rate, but I haven't found info. I mean, if the merge is going to be at x time, what stops miners to switch off at x-1 and say: ¡Hasta la vista baby!
https://etherscan.io/chart/blocktime
How the difficulty bomb works. The block time increases gradually and grows at each stage. You can see the time of each stage on the graph.
But after the merge, the difficulty bomb will no longer be used, so it's time to forget about it.

Thanks so much, I just wanted to understand the parameters and the process. What if HR decreases too much? May that event trigger the merge sooner? It's just I don't see what happens if miners turn off before the merge.
The block time is regulated by the algorithm. With a large arrival of miners or vice versa, their departure, the block time will change, but then it will stabilize.
miners won't leave before the merge starts because it's a loss of profit.

BLS signatures let you aggregate many signatures into one, so less data is stored on chain. BLS Wallet is a tool for builders to bring the magic of BLS to their wallet or Dapp for lower L2 gas fees.

What to Expect on Coinbase and Other Crypto Exchanges During the Ethereum Merge
Coinbase will temporarily pause Ethereum and ERC-20 token deposits and withdrawals during the merge, the exchange announced Tuesday.
The pause is a precautionary measure, Coinbase said in a blog post, with the downtime allowing the exchange to “ensure that the transition has been successfully reflected by our systems.” The “merge” refers to a significant protocol update that will see the Ethereum mainnet combined with the proof-of-stake beacon chain, completing the network’s transition to proof of stake.

Created in 2015, the Ethereum network has undergone a major evolution since then. In search of constant improvements in the functioning of the blockchain, developers have created the most varied scalability solutions. Among them are rollups, praised by the network's creator, Vitalik Buterin, who believes that ZK Rollups can outperform their predecessor, Optimistic Rollups.

One of the main goals of a rollup is to reduce network transaction fees. In this sense, Buterin expects that to carry out a transaction on Ethereum, each user will spend between US$0.02 and US$0.05 with ZK Rollups, a value far below what is currently happening.

“So today, rollups like operating fees are usually $0.10 and sometimes $0.10 and in the future with rollups with all communications like the operating costs over the which rollups can drop to $0.05, or maybe even $0.02. Much cheaper, much more affordable, and a complete game-changer,” said the creator of the world’s second-largest blockchain during an event in Seoul, South Korea.
this is what i am waiting for where i have so many tokens in my ETH wallet but can't be transacted because the fee is very expensive if it is transacted at this time, hope ETH can be better with cheaper and faster transaction fees

Merge Community Call #6 #580
https://github.com/ethereum/pm/issues/580

The Goerli/Prater merger is due by August 12th and after the Merge Community Call there will be more information about the merge in the ETH ecosystem.
Thanks, now I get it. The difficulty bomb is supposed to prevent a fork and the fork would occur precisely because the Ethereum chain will be only PoS after the merge

Ethereum Merge on track as Goerli test merge successfully finalized
With the Goerli merge going successfully, there is growing confidence that there will be no further delays to the Ethereum Merge set for mid-September.
https://cointelegraph.com/news/sept-19-ethereum-merge-date-on-track-as-goerli-test-merge-successfully-finalized

It's nice to see that the process is on full gear and would be finalized soon. Please I'll like to know how the merge will affect an ordinary user like myself. Do I need to move my ethereum out of my wallet to an exchange to get the new version of ethereum. I've been trying to follow the news but don't seem to understand how it relates to individuals holding small quantities ethereum. I'll appreciate more information in this light.

Yes, I would also like to know such details. I came here to ask, but you got ahead of me.
same details asked.

"The terminal total difficulty has been set to 58750000000000000000000.

This means the ethereum PoW network now has a (roughly) fixed number of hashes left to mine.

https://bordel.wtf predicts the merge will happen around Sep 15, though the exact date depends on hashrate."
