Guys, it's been a couple hours since the news official broke. Patience. I'd imagine Tiana sent a press release to some of the major news organizations. I strongly suspect the Gate Foundation sends releases to news outlets with every new grant. It's a major foundation that benefits from publicity, and sending such a release would be free and in that sector, basically pro forma.

Major news outlets aren't going to be the ones to "break" this kind of news. Likely they'd wait to see how the local community responds. IF the price goes up a lot, and IF it generates much dialog, then the grant may "graduate" to more mainstream outlets. Major news outlets rarely lead the way with this kind of thing, though. They report on what is already big news in niche markets. Remember that Ethereum only gained mainstream awareness when the market neared 1b market cap—not when all the exciting stuff was happening earlier on.

Someone asked a good question on Reddit, "Will this be launched on the current public blockchain with FCT tokens?"

The comment was in response to the quote from Kirby, "Gates approached us to see if our identity system could solve a medical records problem globally. We're working together to prototype this system."

These is really nice news. Guess what, probably news of the week, if not this month, will not be published anywhere besides a few side and irrelevant news portals. Isnt this something which should be in NYT or Wired or even Coindesk.

Factom will surely succeed in a long term. Even Bitcoin took time to rise to the levels it is today. It takes time. Its not Instant.

People are so paranoid that BTC will run to 1,000 USD this week they will take any chance to get out, beyond insane but I guess the market will remain irrational for longer than anyone expects.

lol Factom attempted to breakout however got quickly dumped on even with news of new grant and bill gates support, especially in healthcare field. Wow lol this coin makes no sense, you literally have no idea if it will go 800k or 100k even with amazing news. What the hell?

I hope everyone took the time to reload under .003, this type of news is what most people in crypto have been waiting years to see. Big money backing serious projects allowing global disruption across many different fields in a decentralized and open manner.

Wow, a grant's a grant but if Bill Gates did personally approach them, that casts a new light on things. Really impressive.

Looks like they're all just publishing the press release so far, looking forward to some new info (amount of grant, etc.).

Very True. Lets see How Factom does after this news will start getting mass attention.

There are two important aspects right now in my opinion:

Bitcoin constantly suppresses the market (and not just Factom of course). The pressure on prices because of Bitcoin is not just (how many may believe) if Bitcoin obviously rises, but right now Alt-markets show that people believe that Bitcoin will rise more - even if it's kind of stable right now.

Second point, with the above in mind, is: Obvious market-reactions on news are psychologically-self-driven. There are basically two parts: Something comes out --> informed people want to be early in and buy, and very often exaggerated - that draws attention - others ask "why is project X rising - they get the info and in the context of the market reaction they react on it and buy as well and the real reaction starts.
That means: Those who drive the price are usually not well informed. They draw conclusions out of a reaction plus a basic news but they can not evaluate themselves if something is meaningful or not.


And in my opinion it's about the combination of 1 and 2. Informed people already are invested and the majority always has the possibility in mind that Bitcoin may hype. Uninformed people don't see a reaction and they stay uninformed because they would only inform themselves if they would see a nice candle and increasing volume etc.


The above also means: There is still the possibility that there will be a reaction but delayed. The news will get increasing attention and it also will have some effect on the market, but it's not predictable if that will be significant or not. Best case right now would be if BTC would go down.
