i've often wondered why coins do a full year and then abruptly cut the reward in half. it seems like a smoother scale would be better. perhaps it just comes down to a matter of being easier to write the code that way.

if the block reward was lowered, who really would be upset by it? people just starting to mine it right now? why be upset the coins are dirt cheap.

i don't know, i think it's an interesting point you bring up yoyodyne. and it's worth at least thinking about it, even if it's not implemented.

Hate to bring bad news to the party and I usually don't like to say things that can be taken as negative but
if the reward structure isn't changed I am afraid the coin's price will continue to fall and people will stop mining it in time.

https://bter.com/trade/flt_btc
Click the "daily" tab on the chart. Notice the volume levels and price.

There have been large Chinese buyers of the coin for now but even they will struggle to raise the coin's price if they decide to make a move to push
it up. If those buyers stopped buying the price would plummet to near zero. There is a lot of competition now in alt coins and if
you don't have a price that is protected by some form of impending and increasing rarity - the coin will slip into the shadows.

I've been following the trading and market here since day 1 as well as the mining situation.
This includes Mintpal and BTER. And I have been a cheerleader here for awhile as well as in
others forums and chatboxes.

Unfortunately we live in a world where technology tends to get swept away into the ether if
it doesn't take into account the business aspect of things. I've seen it in the physical world
and now I am seeing it here.

You can make FLT more rare on a scale of months instead of years and have an large change to it's future value.
This will also make buyers of the coins feel like they are getting an increase in value and miners will be much happier
to mine something that is reducing in numbers in a shorter time frame.

Many new hands will have a chance to own it if the value increases. It's not just miners that own coins but traders
as well. And right now it seems like just a few people own the vast majority as we see from BTER. A price increase will compel people
to trade it more and it will widely distribute.

I could go on with more examples and analogies but I think the point is made.
If I am missing some plan that I don't know about here then I apologize for being completely incorrect here.

Good luck and hope you see the logic. Would love to see this coin reach the heights it deserves.
The tipping point is here. Which way will you go?

Personally I think the original logo was more than adequate! This coin is fairly unique, and that's what attracted me to start mining it over a month ago; A colourful, yet professional looking logo from the outset and the unique PoT rewards. Caught my attention immediately.

So if I have an encrypted wallet it has to stay open but an unsafe wallet not, right? Because if I unlock my encrypted wallet with 'walletpassphrase' and close the programm, it would be locked again and will not be able to mint?

The important question is: do I lose minting coins while the encrypted wallet ist locked and closed? Or can I catch them up all later?

ooooh, yeah, lots of sending and receiving, more chances of getting the PoT reward.

Sorry if this was asked previously but im confused about PoS again... Peercoin says you have to leave the wallet open and unlocked all the time to mint. Mintcoin for example says you have to open the wallet only sometimes to catch the minted coins. How do Fluttercoin work here? Have the wallet to be open all the time to mint?

You can unlock for minting only by running:

walletpassphrase [mintonly]

for example:

walletpassphrase mypassword 604800 true

if my wallet is not password protected, will i mint without having to do anything?

Yeah you don't have to do anything, coins just have to be at least 30 days old (in your wallet).  I have a bunch I am going to stake in a few days when it is available for me (I moved a lot of my coins around)
If I have 3000000 flt, 30 days later, I can have how much stake?

it looks like the first coins i mined were on 3/11 so i should be getting some stake soon too.

like i said before this coin is a good balance of wanting to hold for PoS and wanting to spend for PoT
