when is desktop wallet coming?? i dont trust (or like for that matter) counterwallet
Counterparty actually is working on a desktop wallet. What jona means is that it is currently not available. It is still in beta but it is something that is on its way, you can download the beta from Counterparty right now if you wish to test it out, but keep in mind that you must have the bitcoin QT client with the full blockchain in order to run this wallet at this time.

Also check out the google chrome extension "XCP companion" wallet which I think is much better then counterwallet. Just search "ltb" in the Google chrome App Store (I am on the road otherwise I would get you a link to our YouTube video that goes over this, but if you go to our YouTube channel you will find a video going over this great new wallet)

Since the asset is built on top of the bitcoin blockchain using the CounterParty protocol, there will be no desktop wallet. This might be an unfamiliar concept, but actually has a lot of benefits:
- You don't have to risk installing a desktop wallet that could include malicious content,
- You will never have to worry about forks or software updates,
- You don't have to spend computing power on a blockchain, but can use this for folding,
- CounterParty is a well respected company with a strong community.

If you want to store your coins offline, I recommend making a paper wallet.

is mining on foldingcoin a indirect support to the pharma industry ?

In essence having the flu and giving it to somebody else is indirect support to the pharma industry. Al lot is :-)

The computing power goes to Stanford,  so it will help with the initial research. Contrary to the pharma industry this can also be for commercially uninteresting diseases.

Thanks for posting the community director screen Smiley I am excited to be helping counterparty grow along with continuing to help FoldingCoin grow. For everyone's information, this new position will not take time away spent on Foldingcoin, but rather enhance the time. While still being able to develope FoldingCoin I will be helping in the adoption and awareness of counterparty.

And to add to Jonas statement, not only does in help in more commercially uninteresting diseases, but the research belongs to the public so a commercial pharma company cannot patent a cure found. It's almost like open source cures Smiley

I think you might encounter more difficulty with adoption on the recipient's side than you would the legal front, though it is a very interesting question. 10 years of freelance design, 3 years of non-profit event planning and 2 years of mobile enterprise project management here -- would be happy to donate some efforts to a project like this. Shoot me a message at https://twitter.com/askuzai or here if you need another pair of eyes on this project.
Here is the current dev team http://foldingcoin.net/fldc-dev-team/

Extra expertise is always very welcome!

I connected to you on Twitter, so would be nice to have a chat Smiley

I was just wondering why no one's done this. Really spectacular project.

Wallet set up, folding initiated -- consider me in.
Thanks for your support! Since you are new I will fill you in on what we are doing to drive value to FLDC:

https://letstalkbitcoin.com/forum/post/is-there-incentize-to-buy-fldc-aside-from-speculation

Basically the above explains that we are building an ebay style marketplace in which we will only accept FLDC for transaction payments. Let me know if you have any questions about anyhting!

Interesting idea. Would be nice if donation of mined coins to scientific organization could somehow be tied into fiat value so one could receive tax deductions for it.
That is actually something we have thought of and are working on. There is a lot of factors that come into place when trying to figure that out, so this is something we are not only working on, but will need legal advice on how to go about doing this. Stay tuned though Cheesy
