Could it be integrated in games with geo location and augmented reality like Pokemon or Ingress. We could collect coins in game and then spend it to in app purchases?
Perhaps the idea is not bad. But where a developer? It is necessary to discuss with him.
We need more activity on his part. The project is good.

This is a great idea and the developer is active.  The app coming out will be a boost in price.

I am really wait for Android app.
Looks interesting because Augmented Reality applications like Pokemon GO is now in uptrend. When one can collect virtual items in real life and then use it.
One of new marketing approaches is to put Pokemons around shops or near fast foods (e.g. Macdonalds, KFC). After that daily amount of customers and daily revenue grows.

I want look user case if put around shop some GeoCoins and let customers to collect it, then exchange on real items. May be a good real life use case test for GeoCoin idea and tech also
like tamogici Pokemon need Coca-Cola and chicken burger .Geo will be skyrocketing till 1$  Cheesy

poornamelessme, yes
I can't say when the android app will be live but I expect sometime in September. Two of us are working on it and I'll update when we have something substantial to show. Cheers.

Okay, thanks. I remember thinking this was a neat idea when I read about it ages ago ... but then didn't keep track of whatever came of it.

Is this coin still actively developed? I remember when it was announced, and it sounded like an interesting idea. Been ages since I followed up on it though.

during last half of the year we have seen very stable growth, and last couple weeks I guess people finally realized that it is better to hold it than to sell it. It is good, because I've already bought some, but in the same time it is very bad - I have to buy GEO more expensive than I did it before Smiley

i am using Baikal X11 Miner

How to Configure that miner

and i already mining Nicehash X11

But configuring Geocoin on My x11 - gives 100 % rejection

Mining on https://geo.suprnova.cc

my exact question is is the url correct or not - if wrong need the correct url - stratum+tcp://geo.suprnova.cc:9995

Looks like you're using the wrong port for geo.suprnova.cc.  It should be stratum+tcp://geo.suprnova.cc:6009
They also have a note saying please be sure to use --diff-multiplier 256 - otherwise you'll get banned automatically if you submit too many invalid shares

hope that helps!

I'm interested in GIS and so this project caught my attention. What has been going on and what are the future plans?
I noticed the forum on the website has been invaded by spam and there isn't any news or real information that is easy to find.
Cheers

Saw a Pokemon Go inspired mockup on the MapBox Blog.  https://www.mapbox.com/blog/the-playful-design-of-pokemon-go-maps/

Maybe we could try and create something similar for the upcoming GEO app?

MapBox is very impressive. I love their work.

Here's an example of my mapping app. I could reskin it, remove some features and add in geocoins.
https://twitter.com/jessecouch/status/767463165860777984

I could even use https://www.mapbox.com/blog/the-playful-design-of-pokemon-go-maps/ instead of the google maps that I currently use.
I think keeping Google Maps is still important as Google supports the streetview view of tracking coins.  I was wondering if the basemap could be selectable, to provide both Google Maps or a cool MapBox styled map.  Just some food for thought  Smiley

Also took a look at your example app, looks like you've got a lot there already as you mentioned, well done!
