For the first time in HEAT's short history, the price has reached $0.5.

Please don't take this in the wrong way - but with the very low turnover in the Heatwallet and the huge spreads, I would wait a bit with these types of announcements Smiley I also think it would be good to list asap on Bittrex or any other public exchange ASAP. Wink

Good luck!
Hopefuly we will start to see some more marketing after the wallet update, which should happen soon.

Actually, what I REALLY meant is that the Heatwallet's trading function is actually a distraction/ misconstrued - leading to wrong allocation of project resources. Sure, it's functionality covers Forging but it's not necessary anymore to have a separate trading platform. And to process BTC withdrawals manually is not a viable process with in a small team. Pls take my word for it and get listed on a third party exchange.

hey guys, hopefully someone can help me here. Apparently when we log into HEAT for windows, Out private key is saved on the computer right?
I logged in on my laptop for which i now am about to give away.. How can i go about removing the private key from the laptop before i do this?
I know we need a PIN as well to access the wallet but from what i gather, it is still possible to get past this.
One last thing... I get this error when trying to forge from windows..

"[SERVER] command >> bin\\heatledger.bat"
"[SERVER] cwd >> C:\\Users\\Brendon\\AppData\\Local\\Programs\\heatwallet\\resources\\heatledger"
"[SERVER] pid >> 5936"
"ERROR: JAVA_HOME is not set and no 'java' command could be found in your PATH."
"Please set the JAVA_HOME variable in your environment to match the"
"location of your Java installation."
"[SPAWN EXIT] spawn bin\\heatledger.bat ENOENT"

Anyone know how I can fix this so I can forge again?

Is there still a any plan to buy out FIMK for HEAT for reasonable price or FIMK is already worth nothing? I still keep some FIMK but currently there is zero demand (like all existing FIMKs are worth 1 HEAT) on HEAT exchange. I'm asking because I know there is the plan to implement full FIMK support into HEAT wallet but it's quite strange situation right now. If there is support for FIMK in HEAT wallet there should be some utility for FIMK (maybe some purpose under HEAT platform). Otherwise it doesn't make any sense and instead of wasting time with implementing FIMK there should be some extended swap to buy out existing FIMK.

I think my node forked off accidentally. It kept saying I was producing blocks but I was getting no reward for few days.

I deleted everything in C:\Users\*\AppData\Local\Programs\heatwallet which I think is the blockchain and starting over, hope I did the right thing.

Not sure if I identified the problem right or did the right fix, maybe momentary isp lag few days back caused it...

It would be good to show some kind of static status warning on mining page if it thinks there's an issue. Not sure if it said something in the walls of text scrolling.

Congrats on price.

Is now a good time to nab some coins before hitting a bigger exchange?
If you plan to stake with a node; I would consider. Check the project and the whitepaper. The developer kit should be available in a couple of days. So I say the chance/risk is
very good at the moment.

Poloniex is imho overrated but it's true, HEAT needs some better exchange like Bittrex. Looking forward to see new release and also HEAT team should do some steps to make the project more visible and open. Some developer report at least once per month would be nice (weekly would be optimal).

Yeah HEAT team should push this coin to Bittrex and to some other minor exchanges. Polo being overrated or not but they are the largest and the best. We will see if other exchanges are better than Polo if we see them working fine at 35,000 online users at the same time.
Personally I much prefer to use Kraken over Polo.

Everyone who stumbles upon this project and is into mining, just check out the monthly return from http://heatnodes.org/?page_id=187. The average hovers around 5%. The total mining power has settled to about 55 - 56%. Now is a good time to join the venture as a nice amount is for sale at the HEAT Asset Exchange https://heatwallet.com/#/trader/5592059897546023466/0.

Also how can I start to mine, or earn some tokens? Is there any tutorial?
cheers

*Someone* just told you it was PoW and PoP. This is wrong. I already told that user (was it just yesterday...?) when he asked how to mine:

Just a quick question, how would anybody mine the coin? Just wondering...

HEAT is not a proof-of-work coin, like bitcoin mining, it uses a dual system of PoS (like forging or staking), and PoP when that is ready, here is some information about the block rewards from the original post below for you:

It is forging like other proof-of-stake currencies. It will introduce Proof of Persistance, not sure if that will be immediately, or in the near future.

HYBRID BLOCK REWARDS

For its block rewards granted every 25 secs in average, HEAT uses twin system: half of the block reward comes from traditional PoS (Proof-of-Stake) algorithm, while the other half is granted on PoP (Proof-of-Presence) basis for nodes that host the block files online. The HEAT algorithm monitors the presence of block slice files, and assigns higher probability for slices that have a smaller number of copies online. That way any discrepancy arising in the relative number of different block files is attenuated.

Yeah, somewhere on the roadmap they plan a second ICO to filll their pockets. Hookers are expensive in Thailand these days you know?

Welcome *puppeteer*.

I came across this shit: http://heatpool.xyz/
So you guys are planning to open your own miningpool? Is this yours HEAT team? If it is, it sounds like we have one centralized miningpool?! I mean, there is no miner yet, how would anyone build a pool for HEAT? Can you explain some things on that?

This is not the HEAT team. I made that quickly for a concept project. Anyone can make a Forging/Staking pool.  Also, I'm not sure if/when my imitative will launch, it depends on if it is manageable for me. Also, balances would be leased anyways, not transferring actual ownership, so even if the pool got hacked, no one would lose ownership of their own coins. Proof of Stake will not be centralized... I will announce the page on the heatledger.net forum post where I announced heatpool.xyz originally a while ago: later.

Any user will be free to run Proof of Stake locally or remotely from a server, and when available Proof of Persistence for themselves.

Rice, any update on the pool?

Yes, Bittrex is needed. Most people do not want to trade on obscure exchanges.
Can one of the Heat team please comment about whether a Bittrex listing is on the cards?

thanks  Smiley

personally I think straight to Polo

Are you one of those guys that gets into coins that arent on polo just yet, then nags to get listed then profits big time? Im seriously not trying to be rude here, its just that most people in this threat understand that HEAT isnt on Polo cause its closed source. Once the rest of the crowd can see the potential of this coin Polo will join the party no doubt. I agree with you though, 100%. Lets get Bittrex happening! Ive always wondered if that would work as a money making trading strategy.. it could be called the  "When Polo Strategy".
Sadly I have not had such luck.  Sad
But I have had a lot of luck finding coins that were "off the radar" that went on to do very well. I believe Heat could be another.
