I think there are only a certain amount of real crypto devs that code at the core level and they spawn many coins. They wait for others to come up the food chain, supporting what they started. Most people really cannot either start or tolerate what happens when you start something. I see nothing wrong with Devs acting anonymously and starting new projects. As long as the code is on github that's all that matters.

Noticed a bit of chatter in here about the dev FreeTrade dropping HoDl coin. I don't see that happening or at least I don't think it's very likely. He has too much time and energy in this coin to just walk away. He also holds a substantial amount of coins and so it's in his best interest to see the coin grow and value. I think a more reasonable explanation is that he is busy working on other things and in time he'll work his way back around to HoDl. One last thing, I follow this coin at Github and fairly recently a good deal of coding work has been going on for HoDl coin. Here again it wouldn't seem logical to me that a substantial investment of time reworking code would be in play if someone was planning to just walk away from the project.
Lastly and worst worst case scenario the coin still won't die. It has a good and dedicated community so myself or someone else would most definitely pick up and take over and keep moving...

The wallet is working fine. Everything is working fine. In fact, I love HOdl! Let's keep up with this people! Any news from the dev? Did he give up the project? If he did let's continue the good work. There was talk about the new website and such before... what happened? I am willing to help with anything related to his lovely coin and keep hodling on! He was just saying not to mine with the wallet. The wallet works fine. You can even use the wallet to manage the coins on the same machine you use to mine on a pool as long as you don't turn on the wallet mining.

wallet 3.0.1 is working.I have no problems with the wallet...

I'm new to this coin and my rig has been running for 5 hours but I don't see any coin mined. Did I miss something?
The wallet is doing solo mining. That is not feasible today. Use mining pool like http://hodl.optiminer.pl/ or https://hodl.suprnova.cc/. The first one doesn't need registration. There was some connection problems so I moved to suprnova.

Is it somehow possible to download the blockchain from a dedicated server? Using the p2p takes years for me to complete ..

i can't synch anymore the blockchain is stuck at 12 weeks behind, any tips or nodes? i've installed last version but same problem

Still seeing some posts caused by confusion over the v3.0.0 chain split.
Problem A) Wow, I'm sure am mining a lot of coins lately!
You're probably using an affected version of 3.0.0 - you're on a minority chain, not many miners there, so mining is easy. Unfortunately it's fools gold as it won't be accepted on exchanges or by other users. Solution, upgrade to version 3.0.1
Problem B) Hey my blocks are stuck!
You've probably recently upgraded to version 3.0.1 - Solution, restart with a -reindex=1 parameter to get unstuck
Problem C) Hey I mined a lot of coins and now they are all gone!
You mined them on the 3.0.0 minority chain - sorry, these aren't valid on the main chain. Solution, redouble your mining efforts in v3.0.1 .

My hodlcoin wallet was working fine, it is all synced been getting 1 or 2 coins a day, now nothing, I noticed when i move cursor over the pick , it says :HPS (total) : Calculating .
I have restarted the computer as well the wallet, still stuck on calculating, used to be around 120 hps. How do I fix this ?

You are mining @114h/ps When you calculate that http://samuelpj.github.io/hodl-mining-calc/? you get one block per 24hours.
So everything is fine you need to wait...
