Sorry, but I've actually discussed this with quite a few people now (including, though I'm not going to give names to avoid conflict, people who are involved in HYPER game servers) and I have to put this out here as it's always come to the same conclusion. This post is going to bash and bash and bash, and it's going to be brutally honest, but if you follow these steps it will make life for HYPER infinitely easier. I really do suggest you read it and take a good few minutes to absorb it before starting to type a reply so that you don't automatically go into a defensive mode and tell me to piss off. I know I would probably if I immediately replied after seeing a post like this on my MC server's forums.
Make yourself a drink and get ready to read a lot. I do not recommend you skim-read this. Made that drink? Right, let's get started:
Ignoring a few other points which really aren't worth going over...your presentation is terrible.
http://hypercrypto.com/forum/index.php?PHPSESSID=9ccdc2e473adf6f492292c4faaa2dc85&board=15.0FULL of spam. Some of which is over a WEEK old.
http://hypercrypto.com/forum/index.phpUses the default SMF theme, looks terrible because you haven't actually bothered to structure or make it look nice. SMF logo remains at the top, you haven't even installed a decent theme and I doubt you've installed any packages either. You haven't configured anything which makes a good forum good, the admin of the forum (HYPERfuture) has the rank of Global Moderator, showing you haven't even touched the ranks. That's just cringe-worthy and shows the forum is a rushed job. Sorry, it's true.
A forum can be your #1 method of communication with the HYPER community and something that shows everyone interested in the coin that it has a lot going for it, rather than that it's an un-organized cesspool, like what some 12 year old who thinks he can make an awesome forum goes and creates after visiting freeforums.org. I would happily re-design the forums for you (as an admin) and make a lot of changes that would make it 100x better as I have forum experience, because right now you could just do so much better. Those changes would come very quickly.
Some other notes. Let's look at
http://hypercrypto.com/ - it's a nice site, nothing special, built on Wordpress. Here's some of the issues, though:
You've put the arguably most useful links at the bottom of the page. The forum link, the IRC link, the reddit link - the places you can see the
intelligent discussion of the community. Right now it is WAY too hard to find. You should have, at the very top of your page, an introductory paragraph, followed IMMEDIATELY by a second paragraph listing the various ways you can access these modes of communication. Making people jump through hoops to try and access them is not good. Additionally, you have a live feed for Facebook and Twitter at the bottom of the page...ok, that's fine...but your last Facebook update was 4 months ago.
Your homepage is also very long. You put a massive about summary on the homepage. Shorten it by a lot and allow people who are smart and interested in the specs and details to see it on an About page. The average cryptocoiner doesn't want to read an essay on your coin specs, they want to quickly see a) it's innovations, b) it's innovations and c) it's innovations. Your link buttons do provide links to some of the important links but I actually only just realized this on further inspection of the page. EVERYONE who looks at your homepage will hover over 1 or 2 buttons and then continue scrolling. They don't want to look through your 50 gigantic buttons. You've both put way too much text and way too many large images. Simplify your homepage and then add it onto your navbar on new pages, have drop down navbar sections if you need them. More pages will always look better.
I know you work hard on your coin but you're focusing in the wrong places. The MMO project will only do so much for HYPER. It's a game. Sure, it will have a decent effect if it's custom built for HYPER, but if your presentation is as uninviting as this, HYPER will never kick off properly. You want much larger buy walls than you have right now? Work for it. Giving bounties for game servers makes it fun for those who are involved in the coin but it doesn't actually help adoption that much. You'll notice not many people play these servers and they're not built on sustainable models. This is something you need to encourage your game server owners to do, not throw bounties at them. Because combined with the HYPER they sell off and the drains on the wallet the HYPER rewards have, they'll eventually run out due to having crappy sustainability models.
There is always that person who will happily drop $10 of HYPER into the server if it gets big, if you have the right model. TF2 is a perfect example of this, with servers that offer subscriptions, etc. One of the things I would immediately do if I had any kind of role of responsibility on the HYPER forum is to
make a private section for server owners. Discuss monetization. It may feel dirty but the truth is these servers will drop dead without it. Keep in mind my other suggestions too.
I look forward to a detailed and well thought-out response. Thanks for your time.
