Interesting coin, I would like to know what is the difference between SHA256 and SHA256d.
And if I can mine this coins with a CPU like a CPU only coin, or I need ASICs equipment, this is why I asked about the difference between algos in the first place.

I see no response from this thread with your question, you should try to visit the telegram group of this project to find out more clearly about being a question mark for you and some of the people in it.
SHA256 is an algorithm

160

iBTC uses same as BTC, sha256 with RIPEMD160

these are 2 alg

d means double for 2

256 followed by 160

make it harder to try and reverse a private key

impossible

256d -> 256 then 160

256 -> just 256

but people are sloppy and 256 tends to refer to 256d also

Thanks for the kind explanation!
I was thinking is just the SHA256 name is similar, but is more CPU/GPU friendly. Anyway, I will try to fire up some GPU and see what they get to me.

it looks like they don't have telegram and they only use https://discord.gg/Nwj56J7. I think if they have telegrams it will make it easier to communicate with everyone
I'm also waiting for response from the post above Roll Eyes

they should be more responsive here as they are still in the very early stages of development. but weird, the hashrate and difficulty is already high. i'm expecting that they will have more audience in this thread. wonder how far their development will go in "beating" up bitcoin.

they also have their own electrum wallet. really a clone of bitcoin. but where is the dev here?

iBTC - Improved BTC

iBTC aims to be a more decentralized version of Bitcoin. This is accomplished using Satoshi's Missing Link - VBR Decentralization Algorithm. The Variable Block Reward (VBR) feature is the engine behind promoting more decentralization.

iBTC adds Variable Block Rewards (VBR), a linearly weighted moving average (LWMA) Difficulty Adjustment Algorithm (DAA) to the Bitcoin (BTC) codebase. Adding VBR increases mining decentralization and forms a natural 51% attack deterrent algorithm. Attackers trying to freeze the blockchain will fail due to the added LWMA3 DAA algorithm.

COIN SPECIFICATION

PoW algorithm: SHA256d
Max supply: 84 Million iBTC
Block reward: Variable Block Rewards
Block time: 10 minutes
Difficulty: Updates every block using LWMA

The VBR reward system has 7 levels:

VBR Multiplier: Block Reward prior to the first halving:
50 iBTC Standard BTC block reward
100 iBTC
200 iBTC
400 iBTC
800 iBTC
1600 iBTC
3200 iBTC MAX JACKPOT

The above table allows the VBR feature to form a more decentralized form of
Bitcoin by allowing miners to get greedy and try for the 3200 iBTC block reward.

The algorithm is a 51% attack deterrent since it pays miners with more hash power
considerably more than a low hash miner; thus no need to try and double spend.
