I read the platform won't have the option to short at the moment of launch. Just curious, is there a roadmap regarding these kind of features?

That is actually a security threat to your MEW wallet. Its no different to the exchange etherdelta which users were hacked in the end. Its best to just let users create an account and set up security features like 2fa, authenticator and email verification and whichever else. I haven't swap my tokens yet but will try later when finally the hardwallet will be developed.
