I think they've started it and then after it headed to development, maintenance and marketing, they need some funds.This opinion is based on what the whitepaper said : " Development, maintenance and marketing of this project comes at a cost."

Yep, in my opinion, cryptopia is the best exchange for new coin. Good platform and service, a lot of projects begin there, and the volumes are not bad for small markets
Cryptopia is the 3rd best exchange i have traded their before and the fee lower that the exclusive exchanges that you know, surely WWAM will make a killing on that platform. 
How will this look like? More like Whatsapp or skype? But I think anonymous messaging is a great idea
I think you can use it for whatever you want to program. This is a protocol which can be used by different developers to build their own apps etc. So if you want to make something like whatsapp with this, you can. Also if you want to make something like Skype, you can do this based on this protocol.
