You're fat, because you dont have any pics on FB

I find it fascinating and very telling that, Paypal, one of the most popular (but not well loved)
online transactions services continues to hassle and equivocate with any person or service that
wants to exchange bitcoins.

Is this because the problem with scammers and charge-backs are that bad ?  Or is Paypal just being
a corporate bully?

Paypal is a horrible entity, and virtual currencies are banned under their TOS.

And yes, they are Bullies...

But sometimes.. . they are a necessary evil.

I had a reply from support on 12/28 that it should be back within 48 hours... using paypal was the main attraction (for me atleast) to use bitinstant...

Given that its now been 20 days or so, I'd assume that maybe they didn't skirt the paypal -> btc problem everybody else has...

EDIT: I wish you the best though in getting it back working!

may i know when that will happen?

I'd say within a week or so.

Unless this is a trade secret, would you mind explaining how you
worked around paypal's general reluctance to deal with BTC ?

please dont charge any fee for LR to mtgox deposit. or charge 1% max $2.99 fee.

could you do that?

Once we start offering LR withdrawals, we will make LR deposits free

I've used this service (MTGox code > paypal) a few times now and "instant" is right. Literally seconds from entering the code to hitting my paypal account. This service is so helpful to me, thank you. The fees are really reasonable as well.

I could use something like Dwolla/PayPal/MtGox Code to LibertyReserve. Smiley

Nice features though.

Does this effectively mean that we can now pay or send money to anyone in the world who has a paypal account without having a paypal account ourselves?
Presumably the information in the 'payment received' email would be something like 'you've recieved funds from Bitinstant'.
Do BitInstant have any plans in developing this so that there would be relevant information in the email received so that it could be associated with a particular payer (suppose I wanted to buy something from eBay using this - I would need to let the seller know that the payment really is from me even though it came via BitInstant).

Hey, you can essentially choose which paypal email address to send this to, so if you send it to someone with no paypal account, paypal will email them telling them they received money and they can 'claim the funds' by opening an account. I can also put notes in that email other then "Thank you for your order" Right now, you'll have to email me to do that, but if theres a demand for 'custom memo field' we can easily add it.

Edit - thinking about this further, you seem to have the potential to become a universal payment system for bitcoin users.

Thats the game plan!

PayPal (and eBay) allow the buyer to choose any delivery address (I often buy things for my mother on eBay) - presumably if you had a way of entering a delivery address on your site then most sellers wouldn't even care or notice the mechanism of payment delivery and would just delver to the address provided (though it would be an unverified address ).

Hey, I think were talking about 2 different things here.

Right now, you have the ability to send Paypal USD to yourself or anyone you choose. We don't pass along any delivery information.
