Nice, buywall.

Now all we need is more services. Online stores, casino/poker sites, services. Anything to bring external value to megacoins.

okay so how do we get megacoin ahead of feathercoin?  about 9.5 g hash ATM so lets set a goal for 1 G hash consistently, not just when the multi pools coin around.

Maybe we should try to see if other bigger exchanges like Vircurex (not "big" but well known) or Btc-e (they havent even added primecoin, but they used to trade chinacoin so there is no harm in trying for megacoin) who knows one day in the very distant future we may see megacoin on GOX! jK

but the idea is we need to open up to a bigger audience of investors who like the idea of using megacoin for purchases.

Never compromise your standards!
Went to a rather huge party over at VR4mines' place last night.  Cool  One of the big topics was Megacoin. One more dedicated miner, and a few small, but long term investors.  Grin

Heads-up - the 60k+ buy wall on cryptsy just got pwned.

Going......down....... for now....

See you at the bottom, with buckets waiting to catch those dumped MEC  Tongue

Thanks guys!!!!  I thought I would never see that bottom feeder order filled...

Just as  a note about the other zerocoin possible coin... it is falling out of bed... the net hash rate fluctuates from 200Mh/s to 15Mh/s (last night) and the DIFF on the other coin went from 1.2Million to 15K within 2 hours (INSANE!!!)))

the GRAVITY WELL IS AWESOME for avoiding all that DIFF Fluctuation.  MegaCoin WINNER, WINNER, WINNER!!! -digeros

Sure, I would be interested in putting up some MEC bounty as well.

Maybe it's time to pool some MEC for this.   Shocked

I think the web site may need to be scrutinized beforehand, since the video will ultimately lead them to the web site, and that is where they notice the broken links, other flaws, etc.  hmm...

Whatever Kimoto decides. He should be the ultimate quality control on anything Megacoin. I'm sure he is aware of the site issues, but can only do so many things at once. One of the best looking sites I've ever seen. To make a video equally impressive would be a feat.

But I say that as a person with no talent to make videos.  Wink

I politely propose a different opinion, my thinking is that dev should not be QA/QC at all.  I wouldn't put this all on him... there is no "I" in team, and to me he obviously needs a team to succeed  Wink  There is too much potential at stake to hope that one guy pulls the whole thing off by himself.  I agree it is a brilliant web site, but it has some blatant flaws that need attention, not necessarily by Dr K of course.  Perception is key, and a video won't fix that  Undecided

Indirectly a team already exists.  rapta is manning the block explorer and wallet front.  ethought is on top of the pool.  It makes sense to do the same in other critical areas.

Eh, I'm just a simple user with ideas too... following the story like everyone else.

hey, I have a layman's question. when I look at my MEC wallet's address on rapta's block explorer, it shows the address's balance being less than I actually have have: it seems that whenever I've transferred some (not all) of my MEC out of my wallet, the block explorer thinks I transferred all of my MEC out, and puts the balance at zero for that address. the amount I sent goes to one address, and the remaining amount that should still be at my MEC address looks like it is sent to another address. am I misunderstanding something? does my wallet use these other addresses somehow?

That is a good idea.  I think that Kimoto may want to spend a bit of time cleaning up the broken links on megacoin.co.nz and things along that line first, you know just a little polishing, before trying to go too viral.  A refined website first and then a nice youtube video could really be a boost.

i.m.o. of course.   Cheesy

Maybe Kimoto could do a contest for a video like with the Megacoin design? I would be willing to chip in some MEC for a bounty. It would be a tough to produce something high enough quality.

You're not getting hardware errors 'just' for MEC are you?  Wondering if your cgminer GPU parameters are correct?

Yes I reduced the Hardware errors except now I dont seem to have all my hashrate  running at 785 Mh/s vs. 1300 Mh/s normally  - digeros

Was curious how the new difficulty algorithm was working, wrote a quick perl script to do some basic statistics.

          block target : 150 seconds
average block duration : 131.774518790101 seconds
             over last : 1091 blocks
                 drift : -18.2254812098992 seconds (87.85% target)
         fastest solve : 1 seconds (0.67% target)
         slowest solve : 1815 seconds (1210.00% target)
fast blocks : 827 solved before target (39.80s avg)
slow blocks : 264 solved after target (419.91s avg)

Luck (and Poisonn distribution) obviously plays into these type of statistics, but it looks like the formula is keeping the block count reasonably close to expected target.
A longer series will probably average drift closer to target.

the code if anybody hacks perl: https://gist.github.com/anonymous/6f65e0ad2734858c20cb

data from http://mega.rapta.net:2750/chain/Megacoin (thanks rapta!)

reduced queue to 1 (running 4 threads),   reduced intensity to 12... seems to be running well now.  -digeros

Thank you darkproton!

Nothing wrong with that, better to be safe than leave it in an exchange and see if somebody is capable of stealing it.

Even without theft, I would lay odds that you'll see a cryptsy outage sometime soon.  I think they are getting more customers (and bots) than they can handle.  The trading engine is obviously overwhelmed.  As an example, watch their MEC auto-sell orders get executed.  You see 1 MEC sold...then 2 MEC...then 1.... (obvious auto sells).  The thing is, it is currently taking cryptsy several minutes just to clear these out at a given price point.  BTC-E or Gox would blast through orders like this without even blinking.

Anyways no slam against cryptsy, they just need to get to work and improve, and the sooner the better.

I have noticed the Same delay and not just on MEC but also lots of other Cryptsy coin exchanges.
It could be that they are starting to overload their processors (running all those wallets and just keeping them all up to date must be just one of the Pains in the A** for those poor bastards, plus all those micro transactions from the auto-selling mine and sell folks)  The quick and dirty solution would be to set a MINIMUM TRANSACTION SIZE on the EXCHANGE.

HISTORY:  Back in the day of REAL marketmakers in lightly traded NASDAQ stocks, Marketmakers would never sell less than a 100 share lot because less than that is not worth the fee.
