Aside from the crypto markets going crazy, MEC price doubling in the last couple days, the coming core and wallet update, the upcoming reward halving in a few weeks, and Megacoin currently being extremely undervalued?

God job to the ones who pinned the difficulty so high.
Show some respect and atleast pop a few blocks to get the chain moving again, otherwise all transactions will be stale for a long time.
At ScryptPool we do our best to keep chains moving if we bump the difficulty too high. I advise other multipools to do the same.

who is the lead dev here these days? where is kimoto?
KGW fix is being worked on by cgminer, he believes has something that works...Keep you updated.
Kimoto has always been mysterious, most of the megacoin members believe he is still around and will be back. (he was working on projects as stated in the megacoin forums,)
Core updates and wallet updates are ready.
Cgminer and NBK have been working hard on megacoin.
